I was lucky to find a Q1v2 on sale at a "I just wanna be rid of this" price, and while the colourway isn't my thing (it's a pure white board, I'm a dark mode sorta dude) I have to admit that it feels remarkable to use.
I DO NOT relish the thought of being as picky with keyboards as I am with audio gear.
One nice thing about the keyboard hobby is that a great deal of it can be enjoyed for cheap: modding material like PE foam or painter's tape is hardly a massive investment, and the changes borne thereof can be pretty substantial.
Then again, there's the whole group buy model and post-launch scalping, which just comes across as abhorrently anti-consumer. I refuse to pay $200 for plastic keycaps. What the hell.
(Granted, you can modify headphones/amps/DACs for very little money but the notion is somehow significantly more terrifying to me in the latter two's cases than messing around with a keyboard PCB for whatever reason)
