I've seen lots of pics of this sort of setup, most seem to use (require?) lots of mid- and high-frequency absorption on the interior gables. This is where I'd poke around on A'gon systems for inspiration.
It's really not that different from small rooms, but the geometry is different and harder to intuitively understand. If the joist space is unfinished, stuff insulation into everything.
The attic is by far the best room in our house, acoustically. Maybe a bit too dry, even, although untreated. I guess this is due to the materials: Wooden floor with PVC coating, only one relatively small stone wall and window, the rest including the ceiling is plasterboard with some stone wool or glass wool isolation behind.
