    That bad?
    How about O2 vs Element?

It's like the second coming of Mytek.

Seems like an OK part. Not their TOTL though. I think Mytek uses ESS, but not sure.

PCM1795 is TI's DAC flagship, but don't see that many designs with that part. On the ADC side of things its the PCM4222 I think. Also not many designs with this part that I know of.

Actually I think some crazy expensive crap does use those. Like Tyll's Antelope Audio stuff.

I don't know if it uses a SABRE Dac chip but whatever chip is inside the o2 dac is used in the Element.

ODAC uses PCM5102A according to Yoyodyne. ESS would be Mytek (I think).

Yeah, it uses the PCM5102A, same chip found in the new Rev B ODAC.

Same chipset as the ODAC Rev B: SA9023 controller and PCM5102A DAC. Try it on the Wyrd if your USB power is wonky.

Ran a search for PCM1795 and @ultrabike's comment in this thread was one of the only hits. Anyone have impressions of this chip and in which unit did you hear it? Recently took my Rag to a dealer to demo speakers, and they had a Luxman DA-250 we used as DAC.

It’s a cutdown pcm1794 advanced segment hybrid chip with updated digital back end. It’s in the Tascam 3000 that has good stage but has the hybrid warmth and color. You can get a lot better for a thousand bucks: Dangerous Source, RME, Lavry Black all run circles around it

The hybrid chips just cost more and aren’t as good as modern “multi-bit” DS chips from CS, AD, AK, and TI themselves. The perceived coloration is more important than the better specs. You will be disappointed with the color if you ab it, same as the AKM velvet sound veil
