Had a great evening of listening to music @Neal ‘s place. The BMRs are beautiful and sounded great with that old school class A Yamaha!

They don’t pair well with Vidar(s) though, which is odd. That is why Neal is selling his.

His Yamaha has a more mid-focused and more intimate presentation which seemed to mesh well with the BMRs. The Vidar(s) ironically were weaker in the bass/slam department on these speakers comparatively. I think the BMRs love class A power.

Is it more desirable to buy an HD800 with later SN? Was there a revision? I’m considering buying a 10 year old pair.

Don't know the answer. But I'd like to say materials do deteriorate over time. And 10 years is a looong time.

Especially if you intend to keep it for another 10.

For HD650/580, is T3 (maxed) an upgrade or more of a sidegrade from Mjo2 (WE396A)?

also Mj2 gives you some versatility. i had a Mj2 when i was almost exclusively using a planar headphone but it sounded totally fine with utopias and sennheisers too. some weird treble fuckery on the Mj, and not quite at the T3 level for dymamic headphones imo.

I’ve only heard one MJ2 and it was at schitr and it didn’t sound very clean. Sounded grainy. Maybe it’s the stock Tubes. The T3 just sounds more refined.

In my humble acquainted-but-ain't-friend opinion, T3 are more of a sidegrade against Mjo2, since you have WE396A tube. As @brencho said, while T3 is more dynamic, the WE396A in Mjo2 gives you much needed soundstage depth

I had a good experience with EH tubes with Vali2 and Valhalla2, so I bought a quad to try before spending any more $ on NOS tubes. I’m just happy to not hear any popping, cracking, clicking or echoing anymore. I’m hoping to get in some time with Vidar this weekend so I can start posting some comments about everything with Elac B6’s.

The funny thing is, the "W" word has a completely different meaning here. Its just a funny sounding way of referring to someone that likes a slightly warmer/less fatiguing sound signature. It goes against the "neutral head" accepted norm here at SBAF. At least I thought...

Or maybe @OJneg was trolling us all along. Is "Playnar" "Chi-fi" or #teamdynamic offensive too?

We are probably better off without it. The reason I did not find it offensive is that the two words don't naturally go together as insults. Whereas I did find the term "Head-Fag" (for HF) offensive as it was intended to express contempt for an obviously bad state of affairs.
