I think the best you can hope for is that your hobby won't be a turn off. My girlfriend just thinks it's a little odd, which is good enough for me. I did manage to get her to show up to the SoCal meet for a few minutes so that's progress. Tip: show interest in their hobbies, even if you couldn't care less about it. If she's a keeper, she'll do the same for your interests.
