My current setup is a 15 year old CD/DVD player -> Modi MD -> Lepai -> MB42x. It sounds really good. Also I like not having to boot up the computer to play music.
It's comments such as these that have me seriously considering ditching my Tidal sub. - with savings I could easily pick up a bunch of used cds each month. Hmm.....
I still have Tidal, but even a quick compare to something cheezy like MBP/Bitperfect/FLAC quickly shows that it sounds like ass. Transports are even better. All IMO, of course.
Trying to decide whether or not to stick with my RPi/Digi+ Pro or get an Eitr. Mostly listen to FLAC ripped from CD or DL'ed. At this minute considering sticking with the PI setup. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
@TomHP I spent years tracking down the CDs with the best mastering of my favorite albums, Tidal just uses what they are given. I like Tidal for new music though.
