Nervosa hitting me hard tonight. Spent too long differentiating sound differences between 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapters. Need to sleep it off.

Silver=bright. Your anthropomorphising. It's probably mild enough, at this stage, that you can help yourself.

Finally figured out how to setup the tracking force right on a Thorens TD203 turntable. Journey down the rabbit hole starting to bear fruit.

Took out a second-hand HD650 from storage for a listen. Why does it sound more dynamic than the HD6XX and why didn't I take it out earlier?

Comparison with using same new pads and cable on both headphones. Reason why I left it in storage was because I was too lazy to get rid of the mouldy smell.

I think mine is 2010ish (silver grill). Would think there should be no difference with 1st run of HD6XX. FR sounds similar but the HD650 sounded more natural (attack and decay was spot on vs that tiny bit of blur, did not sound as veiled). Might be a case of neurosis or might have a better matched pair, but maybe just lucky *shrugs*.

Wasted last night ruminating why Pi2AES > Modius sounded much better than PC(USB) > BF2 using Tidal when realising I did not turn on WASAPI

I did not expect to get a marked improvement switching from my PC Unison to Pi2AES. Really felt that my PC was holding BF2 performance back quite a bit.

BF2 > Modius to my ears on Pi2AES. Wider and deeper soundstage, more natural position in the image, realistic timbre and neutral FR over slightly V-shape sound from Modius. These strengths were not highlighted on PC with Unison/WASAPI which was surprising. Wish BF2 had AES input option.

Isn't the output z a bit high for them? I have the TH-X00 (Mahogany) but never considered plugging a 25 ohm headphone into a 27 ohm or 54 ohm output to be a good idea. How hot does the amp get?

Didn't realise this. Sound distracted me from the heat in the room. Amp was warm to the touch but this is during a cold Sydney night. However, was quite surprised how much bass I was hearing compared to listening on HD6XX and HD800 that I could not stop.

Impedance Response of the TH-series is actually mostly flat for a dynamic. I have no issues with the TH900 (25 ohms) from the Feliks Euforia AE (>50 ohms OI), maybe a bit bloomy around 3k, but the FR measures the same vs Dragonfly Cobalt (near 0 OI)

I like Shostakovich's Symphony No.5 In D Minor, but really, just use something you're really familiar with that you know has big drop/dynamic swings. A lot of my evaluation is listening to crappy pop and various genres of rock.

Currently temporarily living in a 1600sq ft duplex. I actually quite like it compared to the 2400sq ft 4bdrm house that we sold in April. There's something refreshing about simplifying and downsizing.

I should say that the house was great and all - it had beautiful wood floors, lots of trees, a fruiting pear tree and a large yard. I'm just enjoying the simpler life at the moment. Our yard gets mowed weekly by someone else, I'm 100yds from my child's school and soccer practice, we purged a lot of "stuff", etc..
