Look forward to more RE2000 vs Fourte from you man. I'm interested in the RE2000 now for that sale price, listened to Fourte once and was only impressed by the Treble

Thanks for this, I know graphs aren't everything, but they help. I have a set of Shure 846's I love! even the, what some called veiled high end, I personally find it very smooth (blue filter) and absolutely love the mids and sub bass. I'm looking at going the custom route soon, mainly for live performance but also for 'audiophile' listening. I'm looking at 64 n8, a12t, a6t, and possibly Empire ears Legend X or Phantom. I'm able to demo the 64's soon, not able to get the Empire ears. I'm also considering a few other models.

I've heard (briefly) the Jerry H. Layla, and 16 model, to be honest I wasn't all that impressed compared to the price difference between the 846's, also they were a bit big for my ear.

Thoughts, opinions would be great. Cheers!

the ones that would be an natural evolution to the 846 sound would be the N8, Phantom and A12t. personally, i actually preferred the discountinued non-tia U12, which i found to have a more coherent if darker balanced tonality compared to the A12t but less dense than the phantom. For better or worse, the older U12 (with the m15 module) reminds me of a pre-fazor LCD 2.2 with a wider but less precise staging.

Having a personal EE Phantom customs and auditioned the Legend X, I highly recommend demoing them if possible. The Legend X has a rather dominant bassy signature which may be overbearing to some (though very much fun as heck), and the Phantom with its weighted bass contrasted with attenuated treble may provide a smooth listen but could be seen as too pervasive in warmth or lacking in the upper registers. In respect of 64's A12t and N8 (I did not audition the A6t), both came off as being less dense as the Phantom, and have more treble energy as well and the choice between the two would come down to personal preference in my opinion.

Do take my impressions with a grain of salt. It's has been several months since I demoed all the above and the two lineups were demoed at different locations. I refrain from comparing any of them to the SE846 since it has been years since I last heard it.

(As a sidenote, EE iems come with an Effect Audio Ares II cable as stock. While it is not overbearing in ergonomics, the stock cables supplied with 64 Audio's IEMs are comparatively much lower profile and perhaps more suitable if you are going to using it for live performance.)
