A little piece of advice for detecting FR abnormalities and resonance for those that have a hard time hearing it.

A good trick to test FR balance and resonance of a headphone or iem is to turn the volume up a bit higher than normal listening - not to the extent that it damages your ears but sort of just above rocking out volume. They should sound too loud in a very general way, across all frequencies. It should sound loud but not uncomfortable. But if there’s any upper midrange or treble peaks/elevation or resonance a certain part of the upper frequencies will sound too loud before the rest of the spectrum and with this test you’ll either have to stop turning the volume up before the lower 2/3 of the spectrum is loud or you’ll turn it up and one part of the upper frequencies will be jabbing you in the eardrums. With neutral speakers and with speakers in general since they’re all so much flatter and cleaner than all headphones, turning up the volume isn’t really an issue, you get the broad, overall loud sound, not the sound of one spot jabbing you before the rest of the spectrum is too loud.
