hmm, maybe i should. i was just disappointed with all the other mods i tried because they made it sound a little veiled and then started eq-ing.

i haven't been able to find that exact kind of mat yet though, and im not sure what felt you're using under the shower mat

I'm not using felt anymore, I'm using the stock foam with the shower mat on top. Use just the mat if you want more treble. The more popular checkerboard 'shelf liner' that people use in other mods also works, just not as good to my ears.

I'd been coming at the ~2kHz peak the other way: boosting 1kHz by 2–3dB. To my ears, the ~2kHz peak is roughly in line with the boosted bass from the memory foam pads, so it's the ~1kHz dip that needs boosting. But I can easily imagine how someone with different preferences would want to cut the ~2kHz peak itself as you have; I'd guess that I'd approach the K702 that way.

My K702 is very similar to this K7XX in the 2kHz region but do not exhibit a huge dip at 3kHz.
My K702 is -4dB at 3kHz (vs 1kHz) and significantly brighter than this K7XX around 7kHz

I wonder if all K7XX exhibit the dip at 3kHz.
Maybe there's FR variability within different units.

They all measure consistently. It's due to the pads, if you put the K701 pads on the K7XX you get a shallower dip.
