Amp for Audeze LCD-2

    Looking for advice on an amp for the Audeze LCD-2’s. I’m working on a Tube amp; however, I need something in the meantime to drive these properly. They have the following recommendation:

    Impedance - 70 ohm
    Recommended output - >250mv

    I’d like to spend less than $500. What in the Schiit line-up will drive these nicely and sound good? Or in any other lineup, perhaps even a portable DAC/Amp?

    I also would say that I wouldn't recommend most tube amps for planar magnetic headphones in general. I'd look another direction.

    If I were you, I'd get a Jotunheim 2 and forget about amps unless you're willing to either go unicorn hunting for something like a Liquid Crimson (good luck) or spend on something like a McIntosh MHA150.

    A Vali 2 with Modi 3 and a EH 6299 produced some seriously special magic with my non Fazor LCD 2, a Vali 2+ will drive them beautifully too until you save up for something really good.

    I have the LCD2 rev2 which has the wall-of-sound and almost no-noise level characteristics. So imo please stay away from Schiit amps. I owned many amps from the brand (ie vali2, mjolnir1, magni, jottunheim..) and they all made my LCD2 very congested. And you will later hear the distorted high buried deep in their punchy sound
