In big USA Animu news just hit a day/two ago, companies around the Macross US/International licenses finally stop acting like a bunch of babies (after 20+ years) and did an agreement for Macross international distribution.

It is only a matter of time The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? will be on BD disks for collectors in the US at least.

Just finished Black Lagoon season 1, 2 and the Roberta O.V.A.

It is in the "Cowboy Bebop" league. f**k, for a short anime it packs a punch.

The way Rock develops into a scheming villain without ever having to pull a trigger is something else. Nobody is innocent, but the truly evil are the characters who move the pawns and hold the cards. Whatever Rock's motivation may be, he reminds me of Shar/Hisoka kind of villains.

In the end even Revvy almost finds him too dangerous...

Just found out. Sorry busy days in the city.

His drawing and story-telling were pure art. I am a spoilt brat when it comes to comics and books because reading a good story was better than dealing with my disfuncional family. (I liked an empty library more than my family home, I still do.) Reading "Berserk" was a definite highlight throughout the years.

Getting the "Berserk" manga collection will now be a future priority.

    In honour of Kentarou Miura.

Anyone here watching To Your Eternity?

Thinking about picking it back up, seemed to have a decent first episode. Wasn't sure if it would maintain that quality.

Honestly if it follows the manga then you'll be in for a heck of a ride. I haven't seen the anime yet but stills look promising.

I'd much rather have a Sousou no Frieren anime adaptation though-- love that one.

Such a cultured person, as a fellow fan of Frieren, I tip my fedora.

I'm a sucker for character-driven stories, and if anything the demanour demons in this universe have is what cemented things for me-- it was already doing a lot very well but the somewhat atypical approach Frieren takes to the episodic story arc and just the scale of otherness beings in the story give off is well-done.

Ah, and the lighthearted comedy is a pleasure :p

Agreed, plus Frieren is super cute, which only makes me enjoy reading more and more. I actually like the characters, it's felt too long since I cared about characters in manga. Maybe Chainsaw Man or Holyland was the last time I cared about manga characters.

    Spoiler free

I just finished the first season of Demon Slayer and I am really disappointed. I was expecting something great but ended up with something that just good (rarely it can be very good) and enjoyable.

The story is pretty simple and the plots are always as thin as my IEM litz strands, scenarios are very predictable and the animation is lacking , you get stunning quality drawing and CJI but very few frames, the fights are always skipping frames making my brain exhausted filling the gaps.

Also the main issue I have with this anime is the ass-pulling shit, reminded me of the first two parts of JoJo, sudden protagonist power spikes out of his ass.

And the characters oh the characters, they're all so f'ing flat and boring except for two villains (michael jackson and the spider boy). Also their design makes all of them look like kids or teenagers like wtf?!.

All in all it's an enjoyable good watch, nothing more nothing less. I am just sad seeing it hyped so much. It's just tells you that if you work hard on the visuals and audio you can make any show successful or even trending.

    Chainsaw man was so good.
Really looking forward to the upcoming anime, from studio MAPPA so it should be good.

The manga was entertaining. I would have liked more background info as to the world that was created but it kept moving forward well enough that its a minor gripe. The fact that Im curious as to an origin story/world building for the series probably speaks to my engagement with it.

The trailer I saw for the anime looks like typical MAPPA, which is a strong positive. Most of their shows are at least worth a try. I was not impressed with Idaten Deities at all so they are not infallible. But I think the source material was lacking on that one.

I havent come across an official release date for Chainsaw yet. Maybe Spring 22?

Just saw The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf on Netflix. Didn't expect a lot but it was a nice one before The Witcher season 2 hits us.

Is Chainsaw Man is a good mindless read?

I read tons of seinen manga, and time to time I like to read more mindless stuff/fun stuff to balance out my reading habits.

Here's what I been reading lately:

Summit of the Gods: Five Volume Series released a little while back about mountain climbing with a serious tone. There's a French made animated movie that just came out on Netflix.

Urusei Yatsura: Viz Media is finally releasing the full manga series in the US in English. Been reading this when taking breaks from work as a mind reset.

Black Lagoon: Only reading this as mindless fun since I watched the anime over a decade ago.

Barbara: Finished this yesterday, one of Osamu Tezuka's most darkest works. He knows how to do story flow with panels.

Crying Freeman: Classic 80s, realism art and violent.

Professor Munakata: Not available in the US sadly, true seinen manga about folklore with realism art. Most readers will find this boring, but Yukinobu Hoshino's art is not something to laugh at.

Tons of stuff that I been planning to pick up soon once I make more room for manga and comic reading. Original Devilman manga is out in the US, including the original Super Sentai Manga (before the shows became a thing). Might pick up another Rumiko Takahashi's works in the future, I know it will be Mermaid Saga but I might get Maison Ikkoku (also out in the US in a brand new English translation edition from Viz Media with no missing chapters, but rom-coms aren't always my thing).

I would say so. They dont get too deep into any explicative lore and keep things moving pretty quick.

If done properly it could be an excellent anime.

Is anyone from SBAF a specialist in Super Sentai/Special Effects JP shows?

As much as I think this manga is pretty mindless romcom stuff (Lots of times I need to turn my brain off), this is an impressive shot.
