hey, just me again. i recently got a loan on a bifrost multibit by a very nice man and really appreciate it go out of his way to give me this chance. i received yesterday but, today i finally gotten a chance to hook it up, downloaded the drivers from schiit site and it keeps telling me to hook up my c-media device. i tried just letting windows install it itself on driver finding but, fails everytime. i haven't been into computers for long time but, only guess this c-media is a type of chipset/hardware/motherboard related?

i read around tad bit and lot people had no issues of windows installing it seems so, don't know if it's my laptop or what. my laptop is a hp elitebook 8440p running windows 7 professional 64-bit. i really do want to get this up and running to give it test run. my laptop is use 2.0 btw as well forgot mention but, kinda figured it is since it's more recent laptop...

i just want to know if there is some type of universal driver or something or some other method to windows to recognize it better? i really do want to see how it sounds. well, anyhoo, any advice and information is much appreciated. i probably be asleep by time i post this up and gotten any response so, if i don't respond right a way, i apologize.

P.S: forgot to mention usb method only way for now. my laptop does not contain any digital out/ins.

Those should be the right drivers. Do you have a powered USB hub that you can try?

I had an issue a few days ago where leaving my Bifrost Multibit on would cause my computer to BSOD each time the computer cold-booted. While the schiit Cmedia download had the same issue you have. Fixed by force uninstalling the schiit usb driver via device manager and windows auto detected Cmedia driver 10.0.12.9. No problems ever since.

if anything, you can try back-searching around to find the correct driver. Just be careful of "weird" websites.

no prob. glad i was some use to anyone. right just gonna listen few tunes and off to bed since it super late. so far though what i'm hearing i like a lot with the hd800's driven straight off the outputs using male rca jacks to a female 3/8'' cable. when i get back home from the hostipal hopefully in couple days i'll give it a full test run and see how it compares to my echo audiofire2 i been using for years.
