Who are we kidding these are all poor value except for HD-600/650. The real question is if this can bring something new to the table. Even though the prices are atrocious Abyss and HE1K are unique and there are people who really do love them above other headphones.

They might want to invest in an alarm system now.

    LOL on the alarm system.

HD650 with Dynamat, foam removal, and quarter mods FTW.

Hopefully Audeze will ship it in a marble box so you at least get a free urn. Well technically a larnax.

Not sure how Audeze managed the balls to pull this stunt. It looks like they're more focused on pumping out under-engineered cash grab products than actually trying to improve their products significantly. Seriously, what have they improved since the LCD2.2? They're still using the same design files, the same wooden cups that resonate a lot, the same angled connectors, the same grills, the same hinges, the same pads, the same headband, and probably the same (over)damping scheme. If they're gonna release a flagship for $1k more than their last, they ought to redesign the entire damn thing instead of just putting a thinner diaphragm in it. If they're gonna reuse everything, then the prices should be going down not up, as is normally seen when a company already has everything designed from previous products (or in trickle down tech scenarios).

Over the last 2 years Audeze's reputation has gotten a lot worse IMO. More and more people are agreeing that their products are overpriced and are taking note of the sloppy build quality, poor consistency, and seemingly decreasing reliability. The Audeze allure is gone for most people.

Between the above, the $250k robbery, and the last few flopped releases, I really think Audeze is on its' last legs here.

    Oh ya, hi all. :)

This. Seems Hi-end headphones are in a kind of dead end. More and more uber expensive stuff that does not sound better than old flagships. which brand will create something really new ?

Agreed, the market has definitely stagnated quite a bit. Maybe a graphene headphone?

Thank God, I am on this forum now and suitable chastened. Having said that, I wish Sankar and Co. all the best. As an aside, Sankar comes from a town about 400 kilometers (250 miles) south west of where I live. When I wrote to him a year and a half ago and told him about my Audez'e line up, he commented " you must be the only one among 1.2 billion owning the LCD 3".

What I really like as well is that balanced cables are optional. 'Sorry, couldnt fit that into 4000$.'
Do you think they'll be bigger or lesser assholes than Pioneer: Those charge >2500$ for the headphones and >300$ for the XLR cables. You know, the price of an HD600/K701/DT880...
