Audeze LCD2C Great Expectations

Wow that's actually a pretty good deal. Pretty much targeting against the schiit jotunheim for less with a DAC.

Still no stock for dealers yet but coming soon. Not sure if i have permission to share the exact price until after January but it won't be going up to $799 but it won't remain the $599 price.

 

I'm crossing my fingers that means it will be $499 and Audeze will refund me $100

I'm just bitter after my LCD3 purchase snafu long ago. Can't help but be cynical.

 

$799.98? Does the "winner" get vegan pads?

Ok but seriously, I guess they'll go 700. Still worth it at 700, more so if vegan pads become available again, or we find something else that can replace them sound wise.

Have any lcd2c owners tried Audeze's reveal plug-in?

I found it today, and it looked interesting enough to play with.

Simply speaking, Reveal is Audeze's EQ presets for their headphones. They don't have LCD2C in the list, but we can apply EQ settings for LCD2/3/4 instead.

These are working as a VST plug-in. So, you may need another VST-wrapper if used for music-players (e.g. foobar2000). I used Yohng's VST wrapper for foobar, which can be downloaded here: http://www.yohng.com/software/foobarvst.html



Mix parameter is, as far as I understood, the ratio between original signal and EQed signal. So
Dry (=0%) : Perfectly original (not EQed) signal
Wet (=100%): Perfectly EQed signal
In-between (X%): (100-X)% of original signal + X% of EQed signal

Below are frequency responses of presets for LCD2, 3, and 4:
(Impulse responses were obtained with using foobar2000, and converted to FRs with using REW)


Green line was missing because LCD3 and LCD4's graphs coincided perfectly.

Although this is never a perfect solution, it might be a useful data point for those who want to use EQ to tame LCD2C's tonality. I will apply some PEQs based on this for myself.

The Audeze Reveal plugin is basically makes the same correction as the
Audeze presets in Roon. The preset for the LC2C is out for about a week now,
strange that they haven't updated their Reveal plugin yet.

 

I'm really enjoying the 2C. The 560 no longer has a place in my stable though...

 

Alright, Audeze has upped their web price to $799 and I noticed Moon Audio is the same. Now I'm curious what TSAV is selling it at?

 

Audeze said verbally it was going to be $699 a few times so will will be doing at that unless it did change (again).

 

I'm curious, one side of my LCD2C 'pops' as I adjust or put the phones on MUCH easier than the other side. Anyone else have this issue? I worry it may be looser than the other diaphragm - sound may be off.

 

Does it *sound* off?

Don't go chasing nervosa where there's none.

 

Common for Audeze’s. It will not negatively impact the sound. Don’t worry about it.

Finally figure out why the strap was bottoming out against the arch - either from production or storage, the arch was lopsided, though for some reason I was unable to see that, or connect the dots, for more than a week - le shrug.

Did a bit of "bending the universe to my will" and now they're properly suspended.

Will probably still get a slightly shorter strap done by a leather place here in Italy. I never thought I'd say this, but the strap is too soft, and stretches too easily.

 

Must be head variance I've got a little spacing and everything sits perfectly for me.

 

I'm assuming these are just as heavy, same weight as the other LCD's, save for the MX4? Audeze specs don't indicate.
