That would be great selling point ... expect it is 30-35 grams lighter not %.

Well, for one, you get a new warranty. If your new LCD-2C fails you will get a fix and no fazors. If your used 2010-era LCD-2 fails, putting aside out-of-warranty costs, you are getting a fazor edition. At least that is the way it has been. Maybe now they will fix to LCD-2C standards, but I suspect not.

I too lust after the "unicorn" LCD-2. I just have little faith in the drivers holding up long term. Here's hoping the this Classic fills that void...

The pre-fazors are pretty much always described as quite dark, I'm not sure they are all that much, that. Comparing my (LCD-2.1, late 2010) to HD600, they're actually not that far off in general balance. (HD600 has wimpy subs and very little bass punch, no EQ can fix that.) The Audeze has more energy in actual treble frequencies, quite clearly. 1-2db cuts up high are not uncommon with cymbal-heavy tracks... The Senns sound more middy, esp in the upper mids. Both are total mid-central (non V-shaped) when played next to TH-X00 or Denon D2000.

I'd say that slight slump at 4-5k makes most pre-fazors sound kind of non-offensive. But yeah, the trebles are not that low in comparison, imo. I guess there's a bunch of variation within old Audezes.

You need to explain your complaint a little more clearly.

Listened to the 700s today for a bit, usually these days I only use them for TV, films, the occasional time spent playing video games. Great soundstage, good low-end separation, good for all of those things. However...compared to the LCD4s...it's just incredible how much of a difference there is. That should be the case, given the price difference, but every time I compare them back to back, it reminds me why I love the sound signature of Audeze cans.

Sorry for the multi-replies, the site will not let me multi-quote no matter what I do....

This is exactly what I'm looking for, something that's not perfect but has that sort of feel to it. There's lots of music that sounds great with that sort of sound signature. I imagine there's enough of a difference between an early pair of LCD2s and the LCD4s to justify owning both. In fact it seems some have done that.

I wasn't sure how much the LCD4's were, so did a quick search, I almost sh*t. I'm old enough to remember when you could buy a new car for that much lol. So unfortunately LCD4's are not in my future. I'll probably wait until you can pick up the 2c used, assuming it gets good reviews.

agree, we should. the price range is a sweet spot for many.
SBAF can at least be first to check for QC issues or crazy mismatched / failing drivers within the first 60 days.

I think it would be a good idea. But if it blows, pass on the LCD-3C (you know its happening eventually)

My memory is definitely failing, but did non-fazor LCD-3 exist?

I am trying to hold on my non-fazor LCD-2.2 as much as possible. I did listen LCD-2C during RMAF but the show condition was simply horrid.

I would love to hear it against my LCD2r2 pre-razor, definitely not a unicorn. Audeze might surprise us.

Well, I do love my LCD-2.2 and LCD-X though.

I am very interested in LCD-2C in far better environment.

I would be down for a loaner tour. I'm really curious to see if Audeze can get this one right.

There is a chance that those ones you heard were terribly made (remember Audeze had (still has?) QA issues for a long time.

Or my ears are bad. :D

Or maybe my pairs are unicorn pairs.

I had a close to unicorn pair of LCD 2r2’s. (I have listened to Craig’s pair more than once.) In six months they weren’t. I kept them when I heard the Fazor version and found out my repair would be a Fazor version. QC has been terrible, in my opinion, for a good amount of time that Audeze has been around. The variations on the LCD 2r2 that I have heard are/where really incredible at any price. My experience with Audeze since then has been limited.
