Well, I got two amazing job offers on Monday…well, two internship offers – one paid and one unpaid. Both would be fantastic places to work and which ever I pick will be a great stepping-stone for my professional re-training. (As I mentioned over at Changstar, I’m currently moving from English professor to Librarian). The unpaid one is working in a zoo library, which might literally be my dream job (plus, I can get course credit). The paid one is also interesting...and isn't unpaid.

Between the additional work hours and commute times, no matter which internship I choose it’s going to eat enormously into my listening time at home. Much of my listening will have to happen at the office.

I’m going to have to move to a fully portable/transportable setup. Which means some things will have to go. All prices include UPS CONUS shipping and assume Paypal gift (otherwise add 3%):

    1. Sennheiser HD800 w/ CH800S Balanced XLR cable - OFF MARKET to get modded shipped & insured. (Completely Mint, less than 30 hours used. Comes with Sennheiser’s own overpriced balanced cable. I got the job update before made it to the post office to ship these out to Bill – so they are stock and unmodded.)

    2. Oppo PM-1 - $SOLD shipped & insured. (Headphone is in like new condition. Comes with everything but a pair of alt pads – so, the headphones ships with its: Redonkulously nice heavy wooden box, velour pads [opened but unused], stock lambskin pads, short and long cables, denim carry case and it’s outer cardboard box. I bought these to send to Alex for a PMx2 modification. It would be a great candidate for that.) SOLD - GOOSE!

    3. Mjolnir 2 w/ LISST, Stock Tubes, and a pair of excellent aftermarket tubes (Amperex Holland Orange Globes, A-Frame, Steel Pins) - SOLD to one hard working guy.

    Thing I’d consider in trade:

Nada. SBF came to my aid and is letting me buy their Liquid Carbon at cost!

From a former ABS+/current Friend rank, I’d trade for a not-yet-shipped first or second week shipment Cavalli Liquid Carbon, which I’d value at $650. I picked up the Mjolnir 2 instead because IMO it’s overall the better sounding, more versatile amp. But I can’t easily carry it in to work (which is where most of my listening will be), so unfortunately that doesn’t matter anymore. [I plan on using the LC in my office with my Gamma2 and at home with my Gungnir Multibit. You’ll pry my Gungnir Multibit from my cold dead fingers.]

Thanks! It turns out that no one else that applied did well enough in their cataloging courses that the employers were willing to take them on. (MARC21 & RSA are a pain the ass. And every employer wants their new hires to start with experience in it.)

I'd take the pm-1 if it has leather pads and velour. Maybe the Orange globes if you want to part them out.

AV, this is the right move. Long term- personal development and progress! Congrats on having some good choices.

That being said, I am listening to the BillMod v1.5 HD800 that you almost had and I recommend that someone does NOT wait for the HD800S to come out but tries to replicate Bill's v1.5 mod on the pair that you are selling. Warm, cuddly, spacious, resolving.

And I vouch for AV as buyer/seller. ;)

    Yeah, congrats, AV!

My offer to mod whatever HD800 you'll procure in the near future still stands, so please take your time jumping on the train. :punk:

Three words: shared cubical workspace :( Office space is at a premium in the Mag Mile. I haven't had to deal with one of those since I was a grad student at Wayne State. At least the desks are nice Jarvis sit/stand desks though.

(I keep trying to talk myself out of carrying the HD800 and Liquid Carbon to work together in a Pelican Case. It won't be that bulky, right? >.>)

Nope. Not that bulky. You know those USPS Priority medium flat-rate boxes that are kinda cubical?

The pelican case is slightly smaller than that.

    >.< I also didn't know that pelican cases are smaller than a USPS medium flat rate box...interesting.

Also, Mjolnir 2 now available with two options: $800 shipped with stock + aftermarket tubes & LISST. Or, $690 shipped with just the stock tubes.

Oh my dear Gawd... you seriously want someone to take it, don't you?

Anyway, yeah, there are pelican cases that fit the HD800 with room to spare, and they aren't that big either. I must admit... I seriously thought about building a small single-ended amp, then use Schiit Wyrd + GOV2 as my (trans)portable setup next year when I go back to Vietnam.

Mjolnir 2 sold to Elwappo99! (The guy who had first crack at it.)

HD800 off market because Pelican cases are a thing now.

I just have a 5' desk in some stupid open office situation. I have dual 27" monitors and I still have space for a Gungnir Multibit (under the monitor) and a BW and Enigmas.

You're gonna be sad you don't have them anymore.

Though Enigmas make better office headphones.

I'd take your HD800 balanced cable (just the cable) if you ever decide to part it. Please let me know :)

Thanks! I'm going down next week sometime to the paid internship site to check out what an average workday will be like. Should be interesting! (I have until Dec. 15th to make a choice between the two.)
