The new ones have cleanish mids but only mids.

I rock Xiaomi Pistons 2.0 when I hit the gym. Cheap, a bit bass heavy, but good sounding. I'd replace it with the 3.0 or similar when this one dies.

I just want to pitch in that I've been using an old Jaybird Sportsband since it was a brand new product and it's never failed me.

I'm a pretty big fan of Jaybird but I haven't heard their new stuff. Great customer service previous though.

My guess is that it's very much YMMV. The battery is curved and the wires angle down, so it doesn't move round much during cardio but I always have to tuck it under the back of my T-shirt for weights. The wires aren't long: they don't get in the way anymore during exercise than during regular use.

Note: the stock tips are made of a thick plastic that begins to feel mildly irritating after several hours of continuous use, but that's longer than a workout.

Also use the Sennheiser PMX 685i, they are a bit too heavy on the bass and a bit grainy, but sound good for the price. I find with earbuds that I'm more aware of my surroundings which is better when jogging.

Shure SE215. Seals out terrible gym music. I have used mine 2,5 years and still going.

My 6 or 7 year old HD25 ii really just keep working for me. And the split headband keeps them from bouncing off. I can't count the falls they have taken, and the sweat they've seen...

I feel the need to point out that, I think V-Moda's are overrated.
Val tries to blend style with ruggedness; however, the style trumps in the end. There are some design decisions, like the headband, that leave much to be desired. My son had a pair that had a chipped piece on the side of the headband, the cable and headband was fraying horribly, and a driver died all at a year and a half. Val made a post on HeadFi comparing them to running shoes and saying headphone's have a lifespan. They do, but compared to my HD600s and HD-25's, that i've had last for over a decade now, I don't believe Val believes his products to last very long as public perceives. They're tacticool, not military ready.
(I won't go into the sound signature or pads)

I won't fault the customer service as what it offers is very good. I think user replaceable parts makes the better difference though for its price.
Using Custom Cans modding kit with my HD-25 aluminium's and using any other cable besides the steel ones included, it's hard to beat what the HD-25 offers as a closed headphone; however, they're only portable to such an extent.

What about Sportapro? Ultrabike mentioned KSC75, which would be my go to headphones, but Sportapro look more stable, I haven't tried them tho.

I used IEMs before, but my doctor told me to strictly avoid them.

My go-to phones are the PX100 for on-ear and the VSonic GR07 BE for an in-ear.

P.S. Also, JVC HA-S150 are fun as hell cheap portable headphones! You can't lost much even if you don't like them (I love them, for their price, around 20 bucks).

I use my Thinksound On1 for sports use and it is sweat resistant. The sound is pretty good at $200. Recommended for those who don't want to use IEM in sports

I talk a lot with friends and other frequenters at the gym so even my Piston 3.0 are a bit too isolating, I just stick with my Earpods as I have no problem with getting sweat on them and sound quality isn't exactly a priority for an hour long gym session. The Earpods are enough to give me my own music while drowning out the Nicki Minaj and Bieber blasting on the gym PA system which is good enough for me.
