I've gotta say, a closed-back Amiron Home with some EQ is the last thing I expected to be good but... it is!

    Goods:
    0. Not really important, but it looks quite good IMHO. Clean and simple.
    1. Solid sound quality. Not as noisy/crackly/dropout/grainy/closed-in as the other offerings. Actually has soundstage.
    2. Properly sits over my ears and doesn't cause discomfort despite me wearing glasses.
    3. USB-C.
    4. Carrying case is pretty nice.
    5. Build quality.
    6. Adaptive EQ that measures each of your ears separately.

    Bads:
    1. Touch interface sucks. Only sensitivity customization also sucks. Beyer needs to put buttons on this.
    2. Doesn't last longer than 10 hours.
    3. Doesn't cook me breakfast or serve me coffee.
    4. It's Beyer, so... non-EQ sound through the wired interface is weird. Avoid.
    5. No AAC codec for iPhone, only SBC as far as I can tell. Does have AptX HD for Android though.
    6. No active noise canceling if that's important. Not like I had problems with it on airplanes, tho. Just crank up volume.

If you can take the time to go through the setup wizard in the app to measure your ears and customize the sound to your needs, then... this is it. I think it's most likely the best bluetooth headphone I have heard by far. Once set up right, it actually leaves most other closed-back headphones behind for me on so many levels.

This dethrones the MDR-Z7 easily, no question.

I believe you. When I heard the Amiron Home open/wired at launch I really liked them.
But there wasn't a ton of interest/buzz for them. My guess is that the new naming convention and lack of review units to people who could appreciate them slowed their roll...

Well, I rolled my own in case you want to compare (do you still have them???):

Picked up a pair of these (Copper variant, which I believe is just a cosmetic update) and I'm enjoying them. Been trying to find the perfect bluetooth headphone for myself since I find it nice to be completely wire free in some circumstances (doing stuff around the house, playing fetch with the dogs, etc.). Tried the Drop Pandas recently but they were uncomfortable and felt cheap and creaky like they were gonna break any minute. Also tried Yamaha's new ANC headphones, but the tonality was a bit off and the bass was way over the top, loose and boomy.

These have the foam discs Beyer seems to be slapping on their headphones recently in an attempt to fixed their somewhat fucked up treble (I previously owned the DT177x GO & TYGR 300R that also used the same foam disc) and I'd say it fairly accomplishes that. Definitely still some peaks in the treble response, so might still rub some people the wrong way, but nowhere near the treble wonkiness of some of the older Beyers. Overall these have a warm, pretty easy-going sound, so I suspect a bit of a mid-bass hump and probably an upper mid dip.

Being bluetooth headphones there's an app and sound customization test, which I actually found fairly useful in dialing in my preferred sound for these. It doesn't tell you exactly what it's doing, but the customized setting is adjustable with a slider. There are also EQ presets, all of which are too heavy-handed for my liking.

On a side-note, the clamp is too loose stock. Not only did they not feel secure on my head but there was some serious bass bleed. Bent the yokes right above the y-split for the cups and things greatly improved.
