The upper-mid suckout doesn't appear to be a measurement artifact of the angled drivers.

The T5p 1st gen has the same baffle design. Make of that what you will.

Even as someone who prefers laid-back upper mids, these were too much. The sound was dominated by the warmth and bloat of the low end, leaving the upper mids sounding murky in comparison.

Thanks for checking this out. I was going to say that someone convince me to order this for the loaner, but this looks like a piece of crap. Even if one liked the FR, the 32-ohm driver probably won't as resolving. Why do I sense the DT177X is better sounding for 60% less?

This is just Beyer playing games again.

Based on the beyer commercial and reviews here I have a feeling that designers fought with sound engineers and won.

Unfortunately, I can't say much else about their resolution. Lack of gear/experience. I found it easy to pick out differences in my (limited) selection of gear, but I felt a lot of familiar detail in the music was lost in the pit of the upper mids and general FR weirdness.

The driver seemed picky about gear pairings, which makes me doubt the logic of the low impedance being more "versatile". My impression is these were designed for hi-fi dilettantes who want to listen to fullsize cans on the city bus or while driving their classic sports cars.
