Thinking of buying a board game for 4-player night. Some of us have played Pandemic, Splendor, Sushi Go stuff.

    Any other recommendations?

    Some options I found:
    1. Eldritch Horror
    2. Spirit Island
    3. Pandemic: On the Brink expansion
    4. Forgotten Island

Betrayal at House on the Hill is excellent fun, and the procedural generation of the story makes for a new experience every time (unless you guys have exceptionally bad luck with card draws). Also fond of Avalon for something quick if there are people who can't hang around for too long— it's basically a bluffing game that allows for some great "f**k you, bitch!" moments between friends :))

I've been eyeing Eldritch Horror myself, but irl friends have been too busy lately so would have been a pointless buy, haha. Lemme know how it is if you decide to pick that up!

Also been considering getting back into DnD, or rather getting "into" it straight off since I've only ever played a bit online on random message boards. Prep work might be too much of a pain though.

"Catan" is pretty popular at our house, and family friendly.

"Cards Against Humanity" is a very guilty pleasure and not for kids. Great fun for the right crowd and if drinking is involved. The furthest thing from P.C. that you can imagine.

    Yeah I might try Catan.

I've tried Betrayal at House on the Hill, it was pretty fun. People on reddit seem to make it out like it's super imbalanced and more of a story than a game because of it.

In the Year of the Dragon is one of our most played games, and is teachable for not too serious gamers. Princes of Florence is fantastic, too. If you need something lighter, check out Stone Age.

I love Parcheesi - a slightly more grownup version of Sorry, both of which originated in medieval India. Nothing super involved as far as narrative or strategy, but enough that you can have fun testing friendships.

Eldritch Horror is a Fantasy Flight Games product. I’m in the minority with this opinion, I think, but FFG sucks. It makes games with simple base mechanics yet tons and tons of arbitrary and useless small rules which are hard to remember and apply. Couple that with some of the worst manuals (poor writing and organization), and I’m getting rid of most of my FFG acquisitions. I’ve tried really hard to like it over the years, but most of its games made it to the table exactly once. It’s a shame, really: pulp horror is really fun game material.

Forbidden Island is Pandemic Lite. Fun with kids who aren’t quite ready for Pandemic. Not worth it IMO if you already have Pandemic and its difficulty does not put off your group.

Since you seem to like coop games, consider Aeon’s End. It’s the smoothest deckbuilder I’ve tried, and fairly easy to learn.

If you want to try a more competitive game, I like Blood Rage. Perfect for 4 players. It can be a bit cut-throat, so be warned.

Considering picking up One Night Ultimate Werewolf for games with the family. Anyone here play it yet? How is it?
