last weekend i had picked up some more big jbl theater speakers from a friend that had them for me and had planned on for bout a month. he had total of 4 jbl bass bins for me. 3 large jbl 4648 bins and 1 jbl 4645 subwoofer. the two of jbl 4648 had one loaded jbl 2225h in great shape and the extra 4648 had some nice 15'' unknown black woofers in it that i haven't worked on or checked yet. the big jbl 4645 was loaded with the well known and praised 2245 18'' woofer in immaculate condition. he hooked me up with everything for 250 which in my opinion is very good. the jbl 2245h if found in great shape can go over 500 bucks by itself with no cab.

thing i did not expect was the 4648 were all strapped with the huge 3160 crossover boxes. i was actually very happy he included them as well. i tested everything when i got home and of course everything functioned wonderfully. i didn't bother testing before pickup cause my friend i always work with is one guy i truely trust on what he sells and gives info from. i still have one more bass bin to pick up from him but, gonna probably get it over this coming weekend.

i do have a pic but, it's when i got them over the weekend testing them on my porch. i have an altec lansing 511b horn with 808-8b drivers placed on top as well for testing the hf section of the crossovers....right now i have them in my listening space. i redid the stuffing inside and loaded a pair of 2226j's i had from another bass bin in bottom part to pair with the jbl 2225h drivers. have the 511b horn mounted on top using books for now till i get mounting brackets and so forth but, for now the books work out perfectly.

everything sounds really fantastic on them and really enjoy the very clean sound. i have it in room now which is treated of course. plan on doing more listening later on after come back from church this evening. anyways here is the pic i have when i got them over last weekend testing out...

Can't see the image, but that sounds like a crazy setup you've got. Don't blow the house up!

i like reggae music. the pic should also be visable..

i already had system setup over the week with some listening. have the 511b/808-8b strapped on top of 4648 boxes using the 3160 crossover network with hf attenuation barstrap set to 0 for no attenuation. i have the 4648 loaded with a jbl 2225h(top) and jbl 2226j(bottom) in the bassbin. redid the box stuffing and tuned them bit below fs of the drivers. also tuned the jbl 4645(2245h) bit below fs and port tuning. crossover is set to 500hz..

everything sounds really good and coherent. the clarity it produces is very good with lot of low level detail from top to bottom and has no graininess in the top end with good clear detailed low-end down to the bottom octave. i have everything driven by my crown xti 4002. it's running a 3ohm nominal load with everything parallel and providing bout 1450-1500wpc available(it's rated at 1600wpc@2ohms) and each bass bin with the drivers i have loaded with should be rated for 800w rms and having the 18'' running in parallel with the dual 15'' it should be bout 1200w rms handling..add the horns in it should be bout 1230w rms handling to bout 1600w program handling max by rough guessing so, i have more then enough headroom even if feel like cranking it or plan on throwing another party(new years was bit crazy lol)..

i really like the set-up and been enjoying music more since have more time now. still need to stop being lazy and reformat my computer though so, can start sharing music again. even though i have lots of power and 20a circuits hooked up around the house i really don't blast it or listen very loud in my listening space/room. movie dynamics is the loudest it'll get. don't even play games loud either even though i got back into casual gaming as well. probably gonna eventually buy a ps4 since i been excited for games coming out lately like doom 4 and kingdom hearts..even excited for ffvii and re2 remake... would take more pics but, not completely finished and plan on finishing up my listening space acoustically and still working out deal with my friend picking up pair of altec model 14's he has and gonna ask him to recap them for me when i see him. now just gonna enjoy some tunes and try get my stupid laptop up and running good again and stop procrastinating lol....
