    Great article! So Bottlehead know what they're doing after all ;) It sounds like the built-in flexibility of the Belden 1305A would also make it work well as a headphone cable.

    For the record I contemplated using good cat 5/6 cables. I mentioned them in #12 above, but I'm not into the colors. Silly I know, but at the wire length I needed, the total cost was dominated by the Switchcraft connectors.

    Hah, we've had little cat5 to multiple XLR breakout boxes kicking about at work for years- just bashed together in the workshop, for when we needed to get balanced audio from apps rooms to offices- super-cheap to make and very effective. Network cable as easy audio hack certainly gets my vote.

    These were built from Belden Ethernet wire. That wire is slightly difficult to work with because every pair is fused together, I'm assuming for a perfect twist rate.

    The end result is pretty sweet
