I'd like to see the impedance *curve* on this one vs the OG though - might make a difference to the sources people prefer.

Yeah, the lack of a crossover circuit really piques my interest. Technically that should mean that you get a more "raw" sound overall. So more "raw" bass and mid and treble. Might account for the "V-shaped" verdict that Jude gave. Impedance curve likely won't look too much different, but I could be wrong.

I can at least see from the FR that it's less warm than stock-ish Andro (not sure which revision the dotted graph came from), and that alone makes it more interesting to me as I've always found Andro to be a bit too warm on certain sources.

Also, dat bass is from 4 BA drivers according to the website. That should be interesting.

with no Campfire Audio at RMAF in September, there goes a prime opportunity to hear Andromeda Gold prior to potential purchase.
oh well, sticking with the Greenies for awhile it would seem.

Not sure less warm. Looks like an increase in bass below 150Hz from the OG Andromeda. Add an increase in highs from 1.5kHz upward. I don't think Andro needs more bass and highs. If impedance moves up to 8-16ohms, it will be much more immune out Zout differences.

Nominal impedance has gone *down* from 12.8 (OG) to 7 ohm (SE Gold) at 1kHz.

Hmmm. Maybe it's flatter? Need measurements. Did Jude provide any?

Not in his video or anywhere else I've seen - he just quoted what Ken told him. Yeah, it'd be really interesting to see the curve given these new ones have 2 more drivers and no crossover, vs the originals.

Here is what Jude posted on Headfi, thanks to Crin for the link to the bottom graph. Incredible channel balance on this particular Gold unit though, hopefully that is the same for all versions and not just the one given to Headfi.

I think the question was about whether HF posted a frequency-impedance chart, not the frequency-SPL response. Can the AP analyzer measure impedance curves, incidentally?

The question is if Jude can measure impedance curves.

The AP-555 is just a tool, albeit a very expensive and powerful one.

Yeah... I guess you can look at it from both sides.

Nominal impedance decreasing from 12-16 ohm to 8 ohm (at least according to Jude) sounds like impedance could be a bit flatter though, so... maybe it won't have the same reaction to high impedance as OG Andro. But then again, I'm just speculating.

And yeah, I'd agree Andro doesn't need more bass and highs, but I do hear it as being a bit too warm sometimes.

alright guys, Andros in the house for the 3rd time.

If you had to pick, ZX300, SR15, or spend the coin on KANN Cube.. would prefer to keep price around the $700 mark.

Mainly used for Tidal and USB Dac, won’t be loading my own music for most part.

Appreciate the up to date recommendation!

My favorite player for Andros remains the zx300. Sonically it's very difficult to do better. The match is simply exquisite, with no hiss and gorgeous tone.

Appreciate the info, have you auditioned either of the AK players? I like the idea of integrated Tidal, but happy to use CCK with my iPhone if the ZX300 remains the better option!

I upgraded my set from ak70mk2 + andro to zx2+andro and it's so much better...
    Zx300 is close to zx2.
You can buy now zx2 for 280€ at forum which is a steal...
I thought that you can't hear that much diffrence in sources - but trust me you will hear it. It does have more hiss but dynamic and SQ is so much better.
I also upgraded stock cable and also I hear the difference. But it's local manufacturer (jimmi dragon) so his name won't tell you anything - have also forza cable and it's good (still much better then stock one) but not as good as jimmi dragon.

Hi all - just joined this thread as the Andromeda has triggered my interest. Have review the last 20 or so pages of this thread, but haven’t found the answer to my question, so here goes:
Has anyone tried this IEM with the Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt? I have just upgraded from the Dragonfly Red and I’m blown away by the not so subtle improvements. Thanks - Eivind

I've been using the Hiby r3 with my andros for a while (with 2.5mm ieMatch). Intrigued by the new Hiby r5 up for preorder
