    Needs some Rick Astley...

P.S. Do not click on it if you want to prevent a consensual Rickroll. It is a decent song though.

This is what the case will look like...

Probably an early prototype, as they have not yet added the domes and other melted marbles.

There may be a few pennies spent on the electronics inside.

The tap dancer is not included. Even tap dancing shoes are not an option.

By those omissions this thing better be pretty shiny because bling bling.

They went into Austin Powers mode. Next they deliver it in a Jaguar E-Type because the rep needs to shag afterwards...

Like most of us, I came here ready to mock. Looking at the page it seems they've design ed a practically priced device. Pretty similar to Geek Out V2+. Even if it's not very good it won't be a highway robbery like their other devices. And the case might be better than the 3d printed one...

Agreed, the price is starting to get down to about what I think the Hugo is worth. Let's just hope the sound is the same or better.

I think the reason Chord has caught so much flack is that their products aren't merely "meh," they're meh, astronomically priced and treated as reference-level by audio press who clearly have business relationships to maintain. This one could simply join a long list of mediocre dac/amps and one will be able to buy one used for several hundred. That doesn't offend me.

Say what you want about the technology, but Chord is one of the only manufacturers out there that absolutely goes out of its way to make the ugliest possible product. You don't see that same kind of dedication out of other big names. I mean, true numerically calculated, machine-learning based optimization of finding the least attractive possible way of containing electronics.

    oh... kay...

So it doesn't look like a cross between a fruit cake and starwars war monster... Hmmm... More like retro guitar pedal. With just a touch of molten marble, but they cut their costs by using plastic ones instead of real glass.

Actually, I don't really care what a DAC looks like, as I don't even need to see it if I am not switching inputs, etc ...and mostly I don't. This is one reason that I have gone right off spending money on hifi case work. Once upon a time it was the focal point of the room, and now, it isn't. Heard and not seen!
