These are unique and I think rather special, it was a difficult decision to sell. I try not to hoard gear and the LCD-4 (after RD mods too) is just too good in so many ways. This specific pair has been heard by a few friends: CEE TEE, penguins, and Bill-P. I also wrote up impressions.

Simply put, if you want something light and airy, and according to CEE TEE, an improved version of the OG HE 500, these are fantastic. I also recommend pairing with something that "wakes them up" such as the MJ1 and prefer to sell them together (with a bundle discount).

Since few have heard them, I'd consider a "try to buy" type situation with a strong preference for people in the SF Bay Area so we can avoid the hassle of shipping. This "try before you buy" option will be considered per person and only open to Friends or people I have met.

Pricing explanation ... so this isn't simply the HE 6se with RD magic sprinkled in. Here are all of the separate pieces that came together for this and what I paid for each:

• HE 6se purchased from @Erroneous: $550
• RD mods: $500
• Forza Audioworks Noir HPC MK II 149 EUR, approx $167
• An extra set of pads, I forget, probably $10-$20

Total: ~ $1230

Selling for $700 friends and contributors, $800 everyone else
Bundle of HE 6se and MJ1: $1000 friends and contributors, $1150 everyone else
Shipping in CONUS: $20
Shipping for both in CONUS: $30

Other Notes
The headband was replaced (because I'm a doofus and squished the old one) and HifiMan sent one that says Sundara on it. Sorry about the mislabel, I promise these are the HE 6se, feel free to ask RD (who did the headband replacement) to confirm. I did not include that in the cost list because I don't think being a dumbass should be factored into the final price.

The stock cable is included but I think it stopped working. Even if I'm wrong, it sounds like crap with the mods, the Forza cable is a requirement when you get this mod from RD though he generally goes with the Claire instead of Noir cable.





You can see from the pics these are not aesthetically perfect, they've been around the block a few times. That doesn't impact their sound and it never bothered me. I did my best to capture any dings and whatnot in the pictures. I have more pics if you're interested, I have hit the max allowed for one post and I believe these capture enough to give you a good idea.

Purchased from @Merrick for $400 in Sept last year. Has various cosmetic blemishes (see pics), doesn't impact sound of course. Selling for $325 plus $20 CONUS shipping or bundled for less with the 6se.

 

I'm happy to answer any questions about the mods. I'll go ahead and start a new 2 year warranty for the new buyer for my mods. This doesn't cover the drivers or parts made by Hifiman though, I can't control that or fix it. But if anything goes wrong with my mods for the next 2 years I'll fix it for free, and after that I won't price gouge you for fixing it either.

The headphones come with a certificate of authenticity and they are serial number 0001 as loadexfa was my first customer.

Sorry to see the MJ1 go. A killer balanced amp. And at a great price.

 

I do like it but the LauX has better Audeze synergy.
