Thank you for sharing! We don't have Feast in Canada but maybe I will try this instead: https://www.loftcoffeeco.ca/product-page/kenya-nyeri-ab-medium-roast-340g

On another note, what is everyone's favourite mugs or glasses? I'm looking at the double wall glass (Stagg tasting) and ceramic (Joey) from Fellow

I use a Duralex Picardie 22cl glass for all coffee I drink. I prefer tempered glass over ceramic and like a thin lip at the edge of the cup.

This is important for me as well! For the double wall that extend all the way to the edge (instead of stopping before just at the area where you are holding it), it makes for quite an unpleasant drinking experience.

/ I got rexommended Duralex & Libbey Duratuff recently as well. Will have to get a set for the home eventually!

The Duralex will outlive the Libbey 3x over and will bounce if dropped on concrete from three feet. The Duralex are thinner overall at the 22cl size. Both are good though.

    New drip recipe here
But to follow the recipe you need a hario switch or a clever coffee dripper.
I used a dripper, made it once so far but really liked it.
    Will definitely use this again.

Its interesting that is uses both immersion and drip, and two water temps, 90C and 70C.

I am now down to 2 coffees a day with almost no head-aches. Sleep and appetite have improved a lot.

I still stocked up on coffee beans for the next 3 to 6 months. Having a strong coffee before starting a more demanding job feels good.

What remains is to "perfect" my espresso so I can bring down the coffee dose for the long-term. That will take a while.

    Hey @shotgunshane

Just wanted to say I'm angry with you.

This wasn't on my radar at all, but I went straight to Home Goods and they didn't have it. So, then I started obsessing and just paid full price for one.

    It's overpriced. I didn't need it.

But, I'm excited about it and I am placing the blame fully on your shoulders. :p

My modest espresso setup of yore included a modified, shitty plastic De’Longhi machine with bottomless portafilter and an older Baratza Virtuoso with upgraded burrs. Not sure, but I think I had a subscription from, was it Craft Coffee? —or something like that. It actually wasn't bad, certainly didn't best my neighbor's Baratza Vario > Gaggia Classic, but it got the job done, if hard as all get out to dial in with new beans every two weeks.

This was a long time ago, when my audio setup was GOv2 > Valhalla 2 > 800SDR, you can guess from the GOv2 as DAC how long ago this way lol.

Now I do the AirPods convenience (and much less expensive) thing and drink instant coffee (Taster's Choice, baby!) that I overnight into cold brew. Yes, I am a lazy cretin and a cheap bastard to boot. Sometimes still think my endgame machine from that time period, an Appartamento, though...

:D The Stagg EKG is pretty nice. I have a black one with a Walnut wood handle.

Technivorm is releasing a Moccamaster KM5 flat burr grinder soon for $339. On of the commenters on social media noticed it’s has the same specs as the Eureka Mignon Perfetto, so perhaps it’s a slightly simplified version but it sure looks like it’s Eureka made.

One thing to note for everyone here that doesn’t have a Fellow Stagg EKG, but is considering one - it really only excels with pour over coffee and green tea. The pour is too fine for almost anything else. If you aren’t exclusively using it for those two things, I’d recommend the Bonavita Gooseneck kettle, which has a harder pour. You can even buy a silicone flow restrictor for the Bonavita, if needed.

    Love the name. :)

I may need one of those silicone flow resistors for my Bonavita. (But it is good for black tea to have the faster flow.)

At the end of March I somehow caught the flu. I was knocked out for three days and drank almost nothing but water. I was a wreck.

When I felt good again, good enough to work I had no more urges for caffeïne. Nothing. I am now in a state where I can just drink water all day.

Thing is, when I feel like studying hard I still prefer a fresh coffee. I now drink two coffees max. After 5 in the afternoon I no longer feel the urge to drink coffee, none. Yeah, it is a new sensation.

Speaking of getting sick, I finally caught Covid last week. After recovering ~90% of my sense of smell, coffee tasted absolutely rancid.

Thank f**k that it was only temporary.

A friend of mine got Covid and while he was sick, coffee was completely tasteless to him. He said it tasted like pure water.

    the horror…

Hey all. My beloved Rowenta drip coffee maker finally gave up the ghost and I'm going to replace it with a low-tech Hario V60 dripper. Any particular recommendations for size (02 vs. 03) or material (glass vs. ceramic)?
