My gf's egg frittata and my mom's steamed white chicken with ginger onion sauce, beef and bell pepper, steamed sable fish, etc.

Neapolitan pizza and fried chicken. Could not really get tired of those. Cantonese roast pork (must be served with a raw cane sugar on the side), roast duck, roast pigeon, and fatty BBQ pork with rice.

And of course a prime grade ribeye.

Hmm, I like it when a random thread I missed gets brought to the top.

For ultimate favorite comfort food, it is a toss up between Japanese tonkotsu ramen and Japanese styled curry over tonkatsu. And I could forever eat my grandmother's apple pie, which my Dad now makes quite well. I also make a mean grilled cheese sandwich which I like to dunk in a tomato bisque. Oh, and pizza. Definitely pizza. And whiskey. Does whiskey count?

Oh gawd, YAAAS, ugh love me some good tonkotsu ramen, I found ONE shop up in Wilmington NC that does a DAMN fine job with their ramen. I've been trying to get my Ramen game up to par for a while now... I'm getting there. Though I have two kinds of comfort food really, emotionally I like cheese and other fatty foods. Though If I'm feeling sick [my sinus are a pita] I like spicy food, and If I'm REALLY depressed AND sick I'll usually make myself some Currie, I prefer thai green and I make my paste from scratch, my only problem with that is the cost of it all

but yea man Whiskey counts ;3 at least in my book!

Hakka cuisine: braised pork belly over preserved vegetables.

Actually found a restaurant in Redmond, WA that serves this.

Or Indo/Paki cuisine: paya (beef or goat knuckle and other connective tissue crap)

@purrin those look fantastic man! how's the flavor profile with those cuisines, I'd imagine the richness of the pork belly goes nicely with the acid of the pickled veggies

and frankly, I don't mind silver skin and other connective tissue if it's been braised correctly and is served within a good braising liquid

    ooh here's a pic

Pork an Cabbage dumplings, sauce is... chili/seasamme oil, pickled chilie paste, garlic, light soy sauce [golden mountain brand, and lime juice

If the good Indian place down the road was still open, your post would've driven me to go get me some of this.

I should also add Kimchi to my list of comfort foods! I cooked my rice with a 50/50 chicken stock/water[mixed with a little umi plum vinegar] and it came out excellent, added a little tamarai soy sauce to the rice then the kimchi and well it was simple but really great!

Love me some kimchi! Throw an egg on top and I've got breakfast, lunch or dinner

A simple congee is comfort food for me. It was something my parents always made when I was sick (which I was a lot when I was a kid), so it has the association of being taken care of for me.

I also grew up in a very Ukrainian/Polish part of town, so a meal of perogies, cabbage rolls, kielbasa and borscht is satisfying.

I'm a bit of a pizza snob. Since anything local is either absolute crap or horrendously expensive, I usually make my own, and its NY style all the way for me. I've been tempted to build a wood fired oven outside on the patio but never took the plunge.

Being a Midwesterner, almost anything with cheese is high on the list. (Not American cheese!) Smoked cheddar and provolone grilled cheese on homemade sourdough is tough to beat.
