I'd dismissed Miley a long time ago, when I was stupider. That was clearly wildly unfair.
First @bixby 's post further up, then I found this more recent cover on Tiny Desk. Damn.

I can't really get with her voice--the timbre bothers my ears.

I can see & hear how much she has progressed as a confident & flexible artist. But still...just don't like that voice.

I can understand that. I quite like it, even though I didn't want to, if you know what I mean :) Which female vocalists do you like?

Re getting less stupid - it's simple: I got older and had a kid. There's a lot of life stuff in that but I wouldn't be comfortable posting it publicly. More challenges than some, far far less than most.

I started out joking around about getting less stupid (as in, I could really use that). but I see you did it the old-fashioned way: by growing up. That way never occurred to me!

Seriously, I like many female vocalists, almost too many to name: Dua Lipa, Morgan James, Bjork, Natalie Dawn, Dusty Springfield, Judy Garland, Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald (so many). Besides loving the sound quality of female vocals, I find they are a kind of ultimate test of headphones & audio systems--how real-sounding & musical they are.

I've been really impressed with these kids in a band called Liliac. Her voice is really good, and they can play too.

    Their cover of "Crazy Train"

Edit: Why not, I'll throw in "Enter Sandman" too

I really enjoy Steve Morse's classically inspired tunes, here's a cover of his "Highland Wedding" by Gitarre & Cello

Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark, by Postmodern Jukebox

Tuck & Patti do a great rendition of Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time, although in this video the stiff white audience is kinda painful to watch. For those of you who know Palo Alto, early in their career they used to perform in the open courtyard of the Varsity Theater on University Ave (when it was still a movie theater).

    Full concert in HD here.

Came here to post about Liliac ... 3 brothers and 2 sisters make a damn good sounding band. @Jinxy245 beat me to it though. Do check our their vids that were linked to above
