Have meant to post these links for awhile. Yes, it's a booze ad--but it's also a heartfelt paean to live music + a love letter cover of a Sly Stone tune by 2 very talented vocalists.

1st URL is the 1 minute edit (very tight). 2nd is the extended ad. Each has its charms:

No posts since May 9th? WTF? This is a great thread--let's keep it going!

In 1970 I was a huge Beatles fan and greatly appreciated their well-crafted mid-tempo tune, "We Can Work It Out." The chorus contrasted the verse so well.

I was also a huge fan of Stevie Wonder, who just a few years later would break out of Motown Records and take over the world. His cover of "We Can Work It Out" appeared on the terrific SIGNED, SEALED, AND DELIVERED album in 1970. The tune of the same name got most of the attention (deservedly so), but "We Can Work It Out" thrilled me. I loved how Stevie remade the tune, emphasizing rhythmic figures & singing all the background vocals himself (a taste of things to come). It's a great cover.

Lowland Hum recently released a song-for-song cover of Peter Gabriel’s So album. It’s really good though I don’t know that Sledgehammer really works for me in their style. Most of them are really good though.

Accidentally stumbled across this today while looking for something else of Devendra's. I'm a fan of the gentle breeziness and half-stoned spaciness of it. Like a funeral dirge heard from the distance while canoeing through a swamp.
I'm a fan of both bands, and I really dig this cover.
