I like your passion and willingness to contribute to the site. Well, indeed hate to say this.

But I think you started threads (not only amp forum but other places as well) too randomly.
I believe dedicated threads need some level of importance and significance. "need more amp diversity" is not enough imo. We don't want to have separate threads for every amp in the market. It clearly worsen readability of the forum (at least for those who browse).

Let's talk about this thread for example. What made you start this thread? This gear asks $1,200. We already have good amount of recommended amps (e.g. http://www.superbestaudiofriends.or...erbaf-cheap-tube-amp-guide-1200-or-less.2796/ ). Then why do we have to have a place to discuss this unknown amp? Is there any consensus/need for this amp among SBAF members? Or do you have strong clues that this amp (or the amp developer) might be sufficiently good (e.g. If you bought or auditioned this and had good impressions, that will be a good clue)?

I don't think you justified these questions enough. I suggest you do more research before starting any thread (more than googling sponsored reviews), and provide more context for better discussions.

Sorry if I was too harsh.

EDIT: This might be a good example of how to start a thread, although I have almost no idea about T1 (or tubes in general) that prevents me from joining the discussion.

There are 11 pages worth of dedicated amp threads with 15 or so threads per page. Thats a lot of dedicated amp threads. I started this thread because I was genuinely interested in this amp and it wasn't mentioned a single time on this site. Maybe someone here has heard it. And you are much less likely to have a discussion about said amp when its only mention is buried somewhere on page 13 of a thread. I'm not sure I see the issue but I can dial it back.

Just because something hasn't been mentioned here before doesn't mean it isn't worth discussing. In the HD800 amp thread, I brought up the previously unmentioned Woo WA6 SE and Marvey's response was "Great amp, one of Woo's best, I should add it to the list".

We may have very different views on discussions.

    I believe
    1) If you want to hear specific opinions immediately, you should go to http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/the-all-purpose-advice-thread.19/
    2) If you want to start a significant discussion, you may have to provide what to discuss and why it matters.

Your logic is theoretically not wrong. But practically the way how this forum system is structured is not for that purpose. We cannot have dedicated threads for all the amps in the world. Choice is needed based on "discussion values" (in terms of cost and benefit, in other words "worth discussing") . I also have curiosity of a lot of amps not mentioned here, but I won't start threads for them unless I feel certain that we NEED DISCUSSIONS. Just wait until more strongly motivated people (e.g. new owner) appears and starts threads, or do more research until feel confident enough to discuss.

I also argue that posting to a established thread and starting a new thread require clearly different levels of standards.

Firsthand experience would be much more useful than posting third party links, or at the very least a summary of useful information from third party links. There are a lot of amps that aren't mentioned on this site, and the reason could be: A) Poor value, B) Poor performance, C) Poor value and poor performance, or D) Very specific applications. Random amps are often mentioned within other threads and if the amp has merit, the discussion will often be pulled into its own separate thread.

Pro reviews or sponsored review sites generally don't have much weight around here. As @Vtory already mentioned in the Mogwai thread, there are various reasons why they're not reliable. I'd like to add that often times these reviewers aren't comparing their review unit with other transducers/amps/dacs. It's hard to get a sense of performance without a good reference point.

I get that Pro reviews aren't super reliable due to the variables involved (and potential conflicts of interest) but with more obscure gear, sometimes that is the only info out there.

I'm a bit weird when it comes to my hobbies. I have a thing for more obscure gear. I'm the same way with cars. Everyone recommends Audi, BMW, Mercedes ... I go for Alfa Romeo.

Its also possible that many people on SBAF have never even heard of this amp. Its Headfi thread is only a page long from sometime back in 2015 and has 1 user review. If I hadn't seen it on Guru, I never would have known about it either. But I'm not trying to rock the boat so if these threads are useless, I'll cut it out.

Based on my memory, I've only started threads for three amps: The Mapletree OD300, Burson Conductor V2 and now the Cypher. All three have interesting features, positive impressions and come from companies with established track records (maybe not Burson, Headfi loves them but people here are very meh about them).

How about we create a sub-forum for product announcements? That way people can post links to new gear without clogging the main boards.
