Thank you for the clarification. I'm not known for my balanced view of Microsoft!

Well, then I suppose it would be good enough for me, then! But no, of course, I am not going back. No way. My prejudices and biases are far to strong

Oh yeah, I totally get that. I'm fairly neutral on the subject, I use both Macs and Windows machines, and Linux machines for software development. To me they all do pretty much anything I want to do on them, that is I feel pretty equally at home on any of them. Hmmm, I think I sort of grew up on Windows though, so I may be more forgiving of it than I should be.

I don't even know how to use Windows anymore, I want to punch the screen everytime I have to boot up in it. Once Mac went Unix, game over for me.

I'm with you on that; I long since declared my house a no Windows zone. :D

My wife hated changing from Windows initially my now you'd loose a hand thing to take away her Macbook Pro.

OS X isn't Unix though and actually has a much worse GUI than Windows now. The actual cursor control is god f'ing awful.

OSX is very *nixy as I use console for quite a bit. I do agree with the cursor control, but only for mice. Cursor control with the trackpad is good enough to not notice. Apple did something very very wrong with their mouse acceleration profiles. MacOS had the BEST mouse acceleration profiles, but now, I can't stand using the mouse with an Apple computer. It's always too fast or too slow. Same issue with Linux: mouse acceleration profile is crap (profile 2 is barely acceptable). I can't believe I'm going to write the next sentence. Windows has the best mouse control at this time... ug... :barfing pirate:

OS X is FreeBSD-derived and Unix compliant. If you prefer Metro/Microsoft Design Language, well then I will regard you as a metal-loving masochist :punk:

I agree trackpad is the way to go with OS X, haven't tried using a mouse (it's a magic mouse!) in a long time. I do hate the default font changes introduced in the 2 recent releases - bad when using non-retina displays.

As a non-C# developer and sys admin, OS X has been great. There are some good Remote Desktop clients available when required to admin Windows servers.

Anyway, on the OS X side, I have read some accounts that Amarra more so than the other audio players does something with its CoreAudio bypass to effect a change (not specifically an improvement) in sound.

I'm happy with Audirvana+ but haven't experienced it being noticeably better than vanilla iTunes for redbook.

The MacOS classic GUI was one of the best ever. OSX is a giant cluster f**k. Windows 8 was too but at least MS admitted their mistake.

Not the same mouse acceleration that is in games. You need mouse acceleration profiles for the system, especially with a monitor larger than 640 x 480.

After reading last articles on Archimago's about SO, I think would be nice a blind test between Windows 10 vs. OSX AND vs. Ubuntu w/ ALSA.

On paper Linux/Ubuntu w/ ALSA have a better measurements and Windows 10 mixer are really sucks.

I've had OSX crash, hang and do weird things on me much more often than Windows, use both everyday. It's slow as molasses too.

I constantly have to play with both but personally I think PC does a better job recognizing audio equipment. Macs for some reason always need a driver of some sort and most of the time companies don't bother to make a driver for the Mac.

Of course I am also a gamer so obviously PC is the way to go.

A quirk of fate saw me move from computerised photo-typesetting machines ("you're the one n the company that knows something about computers, right?") to my first actual computer which was a Unix machine. That set the standard. DOS, and, subsequently, Windows, was always a disappointment to me.

New laptop time. I pointed out the relative costs of the Dell Ubuntu and Windows machines (my wife likes to save a penny or three) and promised to buy and install Windows 7 for her if she hated Ubuntu. But, by then, she had already thrown away the Windows Phone in favour of Android, and was ready to make the change.

And screaming, Why can't it JUST WORK? actually, no, I don't miss that.

I was one of a couple of guys looking after Unix servers. Along came WIndows on every desk, and soon I was assistant manager of a department. Windows spoilt my life, but it made my career! :D

It's more like "What the f**k Ballmer?" or "f**k you Ballmer", even though he isn't head of Microsoft anymore. Now imagine an alternate universe where Bill Gates hired Steve Jobs to lead Microsoft.
