Not a huge difference in SQ, either with UERM or Noble PR. Could happily live with the sound of either. The key differences between iOS devices (any iOS device) and AK Jr. are user interface and Bluetooth. I use a Noble BTS in the gym, because I don't like having cables get hung up on equipment, and the AK Jr.s Bluetooth is just unacceptable; far too often, it doesn't connect at all, and when it does you get lots of interruptions and dropouts.

What do you think of AK Jr.'s UI?

Personally I like the AK Jr's UI I think it's quick snappy and easy to use (touch screen). Is it easier than the iOS ui? That I don't know because if you have been using iOS for a long time you are going to be pretty good with it.

Hope that helps. Honestly burn let me know when this goes up for sale I might pick it up even though I abandoned the portable rig project for now.

One other thing I didn't mention about the QP1R or might have in earlier posts is that there is no need for additional amplification with this DAP. So you figure $899 for a DAP where you don't need the additional power is a pretty sweet deal to me.

I only posted link below so people can have the opportunity to listen to the AK Jr. For $300 deposit you can test drive for a week (Jared at Redfli is great and will let you keep it longer if you just keep in communication with him). This is where I was able to audition the unit.

BTW, this is not my opinion but the actual comment from the rep Gary (he's been at all of the meets with Bruce who is the CEO and works for Questyle).

I find it to be a bit laggy. Not intolerably so, but t's 2015--even a half second of the spinning circle is too much.

My bigger beefs are: (1) the interface is designed with right-handed people in mind, and I'm not one of those; (2) scrolling through lists is slow; (3) the "back" arrow is in a place that I find inconvenient to reach with either thumb, but especially with the right thumb (as a lefty, I normally hold the thing in my right hand).

Do note that Windows 10 mobile is supposed to come with FLAC support and even the low end handsets are upgrade-bound as far as I know... --> http://www.phonearena.com/news/Micr...one-handsets-with-parts-of-Windows-10_id65735

Here's to hoping... I have like 2 extra Lumia's so I guess I'll check it out.

P.S. This is what I use on my 830 --> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/modernmusic/9wzdncrdqzpc Seems to work Ok. Haven't tested different bit-rates though.

Cool. Should I wait a little until they have updated their UI?

I don't think there are any other UI updates overhauls planned. I personally didn't have an issue but maybe you should check it out if you are unsure it's to eaches own. I am pretty tech savy so I don't find anyone's UI unmanageable.

Dude, you're practically around the corner. We can work something out. I can bring it with me to the thing in Torrance on Saturday if you're planning on attending.

I have a shot at listening to this amp/dac but I kind of don't want to drive out to Mountain View at 3pm to get there so I might just wait since I know Audio High in Mountain View will be carrying both the MOJO and the DAVE.

Hmmmm perfect with the csrdas em5813 huh?

That iem is legendary for being rolled off up top and slightly bloated on the bottom. Both tyll and cardas admitted it, thats how cardas likes it nothing wrong with that at least theyre straight about it. But it gives me the impression that they are continuing the Hugo sound and reviewers are suggestion using rolled off transducers to cover up the brightness and bring life back to the music. No bueno.

This is off the DAP topic, but we should hopefully see the Cardas A8 (according to them) by the end of the year. I hope that rolled-off signature isn't a feature.
