I got the G series, quote from amazon review:

    https://www.amazon.com/DeoxITGOLD-Liquid-Brush-Applicator-Conditioner/dp/B0015A7CYG

I applied it on my Sony XBA-Z5's gold stereo TRS connector.. subjectively it seems to made a tiny improvement to transparency/clarity/smoothness, seems just a tiny bit holographic(just a tiny bit more tail to decays). Bass seem to be meater.

Time to take the mouse apart again, and de-oxit the contacts for the left-click switch at least.

Looks like there's plenty of connectors to coat on.

    XLR connectors and ports
    USB cables and ports
    Apple Lightning cables
    Ac power pins
    Hdmi cables
Basically any electrical contact point/pin outs

Good stuff. It won't make an odac sound like a Yggdrasil or any such fantastical magic, but every audio enthusiast should keep some Deoxit and ProGold around. A small bottle lasts forever. Last year I replentished my supply bought in 1994.

After evaluating this detoxit for >6hours, I think detoxit does help with improving planktonic details. there's also an immediacy to transients, feels faster.

Succinct opinion: It makes music sound livelier(less dull). Worth a buy.

If it's a Logitech mouse, oftentimes it's actually the metal spring inside that's slightly worn. It's fixable if you care to open the thing up, but the spring is really tiny and getting it out and back into place is somewhat difficult (and if it sproings out of your tweezers, it's long gone).

I've used the D series for a while to clean the contacts on vintage gear, it does it's job there and lasts.

My impression (and not my experience) is that a looooong time after you apply it, it turns into gunk. Is this true?

I voted "yes" but really on the basis that, same as @bobboxbody , Ive used it to clean up vintage amps successfully. Whether it'll improve an already clean connection, I have no idea.

I have not experienced it turning to gunk. That being said, the longest I've had an amp that I treated with deoxit is about 5 years, but the pots and rca connections still function smooth and noise free.

I don't think one is supposes to leave enough of the stuff on a component to gunk. Barely a film

There is a Deoxit product for new components that acts as a protectanct.

As always, the final word is... If there isn't a real problem to begin with, Deoxit won't cure it. But I love the stuff for what it has done for me.

Yeah I've got both I think...the D5 and the Gold I think they are. On my old Luxmans I used D5 first followed by the Gold stuff, the latter is I think meant to protect from oxidation or whatever.

The stuff that can potentially turn to gunk are the contact enhancers or barriers, not the contact cleaners. The enhancers form more conductive films between mating surfaces. Barriers are usually thicker and will seal the mating surfaces from air, and are typically hydrophobic to some degree as well. Sometimes these are combined into one product. Both of these do not dissipate over time, but after a while they can potentially dry out and become gunky.

The cleaners are typically something that dissolves oxidation and other crapola, and then evaporates and should leave nothing behind except maybe a tiny bit of enhancer/barrier stuff. As @Thad E Ginathom said though, you shouldn't be slathering the stuff on that heavily. A quick spritz and a couple insertions ought to do it. If it needs more heavy duty action, you might need to get in there with your hands*.

    * edit: wow those last two sentences

@Armaegis is correct vis a vis the barriers and potential to become gunky. I have used d5 cleaner for years and have noticed a slight bit of left over stuff after cleaning that does attract dust.

I have since given up all spray or dab on cleaners in favor of jewelers cloth. This soft impregnated cloth designed to clean silver jewelry works very well at removing oxidation. Plenty of black oxidation residue on the cloth after using cloth wrapped q-tip stick and cleaning rca jacks pins, spades, etc. And no visible left over film on the connection.

My bike's torchlight seems brighter after applying this. Pretty applicable everywhere.

I am guessing electrons flow better after applying this Golden lube? ;)

For those who don't wish to spend $ on this, here's a simple life hack from the above mentioned reference thread:

You know those pink/blue erasers where childhood legend said the blue side could remove ink but it never did? Well it works great for rubbing on metal bits.
