Do vintage DAC chip based players stack up to modern chip designs?

    A rabbit hole discussion but obviously there is still alot of love for the older dac designs for various reasons. Teradak do some interesting new designs using older chips, for example.
    The ti produced Burr Brown 1794A is a curious link to the past. Orchard Audio and various Japanese companies still use it today.
    Just curious on people's opinion on the relevance of older chips in modern hifi.
