Klara Lewis and Simon Fisher Turner's "Care"--probably my favorite record either have done. Opening cut below.

Also, Keith Fullerton Whitman's new record, Redactions, is really excellent. Can't find a YouTube clip, though.

Thanks as always for the recommendations @Rustin Cohle - I also liked the new Keith Fullerton Whitman - curious to see what he does for the 3rd and final release of the series.

Have gone back to this pair of gems from a couple of years back a lot over the last few months and if I remembering correctly, I don't think they were posted in the previous version of the thread (and even if they were, that's sadly lost). A pair of companion releases from Jon Collin and Demdike Stare - Sketches of Everything and Fragments of Nothing. Probably easier to listen for yourself below, but it's kinda minimal bluesy-folksy guitar meets ambient and field recordings. Incredibly atmospheric and beautiful stuff.

Thanks @shambles! I own Sketches of Everything on vinyl and enjoy it very much, but I keep forgetting its companion exists as the only physical release is cassette and I'm neither equipped nor inclined. I need to reacquaint myself with that one.

Whilst not strictly on topic Demdike (real name Elizabeth Southerns) was an English witch who was executed by hanging as part of the Pendle Witch Trials which had its 400th anniversary in 2012. There was a petition for her and ten other witches' pardon in 1996 which failed. Whether Demdike Stare get their name from her or her family I don't know but I always felt it was about right because they're from that part of England (Lancashire).

I don't know if this Demdike Stare track merits being in this particular thread but I suppose it's borderline experimental and, what the hell, it's one of my favourite tracks and if this doesn't summon witchcraft I don't know what does.

Just flagging the new Kali Malone record on GRM, Living Torch. For those interested in a limited edition vinyl release, you'll find that on her bandcamp or Boomkat. 600 copies ... don't sleep. Increasingly, I'm favoring the CD format for long form stuff but collectibility is always a consideration.

Hell yes, can't possibly go wrong with Kali Malone + GRM. Already ordered on my side - CD for me as always, but noticed the LE white vinyl had already sold out yesterday night on both Bandcamp and Boomkat. I assume you got your order in early?

Also a new Sarah Davachi up for pre-order - https://sarahdavachi.bandcamp.com/album/two-sisters - but sadly not out until September...

Speaking of GRM, was listening to Michele Bokanowski's Rhapsodia / Battements Solaires on Recollection GRM a couple of days ago. Really beautiful release and a lot more accessible than some of the more experimental GRM stuff. Bandcamp page here: https://recollectiongrm.bandcamp.com/album/rhapsodia-battements-solaires-2

I went with the CD after all. When it comes to music of this sort of nuance and delicacy, I have a really low threshold for surface noise as well as side-flipping. Saw the Davachi ... I'll probably not preorder automatically and wait to hear some tracks. 85% of the time she's brilliant and essential, but on a rare occasion I'm a bit underwhelmed. Kali has managed to bat 1.000 for me. Thanks for the Bokanowski tip ...

This recently released collection of Ernest Hood stuff is really good. Absolutely sings on LIM --> Studio B --> HD800. Sonorous, beautiful tone.

Don't know if this qualifies, but I've been enjoying Inner Symphonies by Hania Rani and Dobrawa Czocher. Piano and cello with electronic accompaniment, some more composed neoclassical pieces and some more soundscape. Here's the opening track Overture:

Edited to add a side project from Brian McBride of Stars of the Lid:

Ryuichi Sakamoto’s recently-released ‘12’ is excellent. Though there are some spots on the album where the input peaks out (something I’m very sensitive to and really dislike) overall it’s a very satisfying listen. The music is haunting and heart-wrenching when you consider that he recorded it while battling Stage 4 rectal cancer after having made it through throat cancer. This is the music of a man who doesn’t have much time left and is facing his circumstances. Here are two different pieces from the album. First one is a darkly brooding synth piece that sounds so good cranked up on Moondrop Kata and CS-Pro dongle. Second is an intimate acoustic piano piece where you can hear breathing and all.

I've been digging through La Monte Young and enjoying the cello works, here's a recently released(2022) piece based on a composition by Terry Jennings, interpreted by La Monte Young, and performed by Charles Curtis.

Even better is Just Charles & Cello in the Romantic Chord by La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela, also performed by Charles Curtis, but I can't find internet audio of it.

I've been buried under a lot of life. And in the process have been accumulating something like two years worth of recommended listens. I'm going to reinvigorate this thread with a post a day of newish stuff.

First up, a cut from Jefre Cantu-Ledesma's excellent (thus far) digital-only release, Poverty.

Possibly doesn't belong here but I'm thinking no one else is gonna trot this out. A bit more beat-/song-oriented but Boomkat's word salad description of "southern gothic shoegaze soul" means we're still in weird as f**k territory. And a pro tip if you're thinking about copping the CD: Don't. What you get is a CD-R with a printed label that will quite possibly not play in your $700 transport. I mean, pay the band of course, but this is a rare case where I recommend the download only.

I might actually like Cremation Lily sounding like Prurient more than I like Prurient. Which is to take nothing away from the untouchable era of CL's The Processes and Instruments of Normal People ... and In England Now, Underwater. I just don't think he can improve upon that particular template.
