After 20% off at checkout, they are $370 on Amazon, are they worth it?

Personally, yes they are worth it.
But I'm a closed back kind of guy. For all that you get, and the decent sound, that's definitely a better price than $600!!! :p

Not what I heard, no. Maybe consider the Fostex TH-X00 on Massdrop instead?

If your ears are sensitive to harsh treble and boomy bass, then no. As a second headphone for lower listening levels and a bit of isolation, maybe.

Stay far away from Beyerdynamic. I wouldn't even accept it if it was free.

That's a bit harsh. The 770/880/990 are decent except for a shared upper end glare. The DT150/250 are quite good as closed cans. All Beyers have quite good durability.

That's true. DT150 is actually a really great headphone. But I still stand by my statement.

DT1350 is pretty good and it even uses Tesla-drivers. A ton of people actually love Beyerdynamic so they must be doing something right?

You can find people that love everything. Doesn't make it actually good. ;)

There´s no denying that Beyers can be downrigth painful if you are sensitive to treble, but the overall quality of their headphones (T1, T90, DT1350, DT880, etc.) seems pretty good to me. Or am I missing something here?

    I'm a big fan of the 880 and 1350.

Would love to give the 1770s a shot someday, but really have no use for closed back headphones beyond my portable set.

Oh, no, that was just general commentary on the, "A ton of people like X, so they must be doing something right" type of logic, specifically when applied to the headphone industry. You can find a circle-jerk...sorry, appreciation thread for about every headphone-related product under the sun. It's gotten to the point where it's so commonplace and there's so much noise that there's no way you can equate that with an actual quality product.

So, no, not saying Beyer doesn't have some good products, just that line of reasoning is (sadly) starting to hold less and less weight as the years go on with this industry. (Clearly there are some industries and hobbies where this logic does hold pretty well.)

FWIW, the few Beyer products I heard at RMAF were pretty damn bad to my ears, even ignoring treble. Couple that with known QC issues, and...yeah. The old DT770/880/990 and some others like the DT150/250 seem to have promise if you, again, can disregard some potentially concerning reliability reports.

On the other hand... to each his own, I guess? If there are others that like what I consider crappy Beyer headphones, no skin off my back. Doesn't mean I think their opinion holds much weight, though, because I'm an asshole. :)

I've generally found Beyer to be quite reliable from a build quality standpoint. Driver matching/consistency is a whole 'nuther story though...

Many people love Beyer, some are not (such as the boss of hifiman, he hates them, maybe due to the treble things...)

    Not worth it IMO.
