I’m expecting the first sample from the assembly house within the next week. They’re about a week behind from the original schedule due to some parts that didn’t arrive on time. But that is the story of our times!

I’ll provide an update when we receive it and we’ve done testing because then we will tell them to finish the next 99 and I will have a firm in hand date. Obviously will need a little time to get them test them and begin shipping.

Also, when we receive the prototype in it is cleared we will begin taking pre-orders. One of the items that we have sorted out is there will be a discount for existing lite customers to agree to returning their unit. That will be $100.

Is that $100 discount, or $100 to trade up? Thanks

Unfortunately just the discount. Can’t afford to do more. :(

Ok, I guess I had misread the earlier post, thought it had been the difference between them. What is the price of this? Thanks

PI2AES 2.0 will be $299 and come with a clear acrylic case. No PSU since it is designed to run off the pi itself.

Will it be compatible with the existing screen case?

Would be interesting to compare 1.0 w power supply and 2.0 w/o it, and any other differences you've cooked up w the second iteration!

yes. It will use the same cases as before. But not the same power supply!

I would like to re arrange my rig so that I have space for more amplifiers so I can compare 2 side by side instead of one at a time with all the setup I between. But it means moving my DAC to the other side of the rack (right side instead of left).

thing is, my Pi2AES is not really reachable I I put it over there with the DAC. So I'm wondering if there is any downside to using a long AES cable like 6-10 feet.

Any thoughts would be great! thank you

No you should be fine. I did a bit of research before buying a 30 foot BNC cable and it works perfect to connect my streamer to my secondary rig in a different room. AES/EBU 110ohm from Pi2AEs should be able to go even further with no issues, I believe 100 feet or more.

Correct. The main reasons for using Balanced AES is for noise immunity and distance. 10 meters or even more are no problem.

Having trouble with my pi2aes/OS, the pi2 powers up and I can see it from my device, but it won’t connect to moOde… this has been happening intermittently for the past two weeks.

I take a SNES/basic electronics approach to troubleshooting bc I can’t find any info online, of taking out and replacing the SD card and powering on and off the pi2, and sometimes that works (mostly the power supply cycling—I have two PSUs for the pi2).

Anyone had issues like this w moOde? Not sure where the problem lies, but it seems software-related…

you say you have two power supplies, are you using them simultaneously, one to the pie and one to the Pi2AES? Which power supplies are these, manufacture, voltages, etc.?

also, remember, the Pi2aes must be powered first before the pi. Otherwise, the pi software cannot find it.

nope, just keep trying one power supply or the other until it works again, which is usually a couple of minutes, but has been all day today this time…

What do you mean when you say you can see it from your device? Are you looking at IP addresses on your network? Are you looking for "moode" to show up in your airplay?

Have you checked the LED on the Pi? The red one should blink in a pattern if there's a problem.

Can you access the Moode web interface after the pi boots?

Ugh, it's working now, I had to turn off the device I use to control moOde (my phone). And then it just started working normally. But I know this is gonna happen again. Just ordered a USB-C dongle with SD card reader for my laptop so I can reflash to the newest version of moOde, maybe that will help... I hope!

The red lights never blink. Don't think it's a physical issue with the pi2.

Nope, never, not when these little bugs occur, it just hangs until it shows that the server can't be reached.

Nice, does it come with a case in the pre order? Any chance for a black one?

Hi Michael! I have ordered my Pi2AES 2.0 and am very excited for it to arrive.

I wanted to confirm before i spend additional $$.

Does the 2.0 come with a power supply? From what I’m reading, it only requires 5V whereas the original version could take 24v and that could be stepped down?

I have read the PDF but i am still a little confused. Could you please clarify the power options?
Either powering straight from PI or two separate 5V external power supplies.

    Thanks!
