After reading @Tyll Hertsens comment, I decided to revisit the EarPods. My problem with them has been that they don't stay put, resulting in crummy SQ and frustration. Sooo, I did a little surfing to find tweaks that might mitigate that problem. I found these: http://earhoox.com/. While I was waiting for them to show up I broke the EarPods in for 50 hours, following my standard protocol for a new IEM. Upon arrival, I installed them and went through my test tracks... Wow! They sounded astoundingly good. The earhoox provide perfect alignment with the ear canal and stabilze them so they don't move. If you are inclined to experiment, $10 is the price of admission.

I've got a pair of Celsus Sound Gramo One's which are rather expensive as earbuds as concerned. If any Canuck SBAF'ers would like a go, I could potentially send them out.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who thought the VE Monk was worth about the asking price and not much more.

I'm still curious about earbuds, so I ordered the RX-1 and Cygnus. It would be nice if I could find something more comfortable than typical IEMs. Not that I expect any earbuds to rival the Andromeda, but I'm close to divorcing them due to discomfort.

Ken Ball mentioned in the thread on the new Campfire Audio IEMs that they made some ergonomic improvements for their latest models (longer nozzle, smaller housing body). Might be something to look into for a sidegrade.

Cygnus are the most comfortable earbuds i've tried. For optimum SQ, pair them with foamtips with very less density.

I'm definitely looking forward to the Cygnus and will probably get the Stardust when it becomes available.

So far I really, really like the RX-1, so if the Cygnus improves on it, I'll be very happy. The RX-1 certainly isn't as technically proficient as most of the IEMs I've owned, but they've got one huge benefit going for them: I don't think about them when I'm wearing them. Every IEM I've every owned, including CIEMs, was uncomfortable/annoying enough that I spent part of my listening time thinking about how uncomfortable they are. Sure, I'm disappointed in the bass roll-off, but I'm spending more time listening to and thus enjoying music than I am thinking about my discomfort. I have a HUGE head, so even most headphones end up being uncomfortable after a while.

The RX-1 definitely benefits from an amp.

Sorry for the late reply. I listen to Earbuds only on weekdays at office. In weekends i listen to my Genelec speakers with Mojo.
    Back to Stardust:
Hmmm, Well it's more refined version of cygnus. Sometimes, with cygnus, i get fatigue after long listening sessions. But i am enjoying stardust through out the day.
The Mids are forward and lows are more controlled. Sound is dynamic. It's still very early. I need more listening sessions :D

One thing for sure, it's a special earbud and you shouldn't miss it.

Good to hear :D I'm coming from VE Zen 2 which I was pretty underwhelmed with. What's people's list of fave earbuds around these parts? Out of the ones I've listened to so far I'd honestly go with:

    1. Monk Plus
    2. Monk original
    3. Zen 2
    4. Tingo TG-38 (no idea where that fits as it's been ages since I've last listened to that one)

No offense audiobros, but the RX-1 sounds like it's priced appropriately. Are my expectations too high for earbuds? I am tempted to order the stardust but will wait for someone like @shotgunshane or @CEE TEE to tell me I must have them.

I've been interested in earbuds for years but haven't found the incumbents to be very good. I'm not looking to replace my Andromeda but I'd like to compete favorably with mid priced IEMs.
