    Necromancer duties.

As befits this occasion, here is a clip of Orpheus singing a little ditty while surrounded by his posse of cross-dressing post-modern dancers.

This track is amazing. William Cornysh was a late fifteenth century/early sixteenth century composer represented in one of the best collections of sacred music of the time "The Eton Choirbook". Lucky it survived the reformation. There are two composers from the time called "William Cornysh" - the younger and the elder, presumably father and son. I always get them mixed up.

Originally had this album on cassette as a teenager in the eighties. Bought it on CD recently.

If the lute was the guitar of the renaissance, Downland was Eric Clapton. Hear the chromatically descending line at the start? Follow it through the piece.

BTW, I'm normally glad that I don't suffer from balding, but this dude's haircut is making me consider artificial strand by strand hair removal.

    Let's dust off this thread.

Here's a simple secular song from the early Renaissance by Dufay. Having perused the "Music You'd Describe As Haunting" thread I thought of this song, but believe that this is the better spot to post it.

Two recordings. I prefer the second, but it's sadly incomplete in the YouTube upload. Still worth a listen.
