    Hello SBAF Members,

I am picking up this DAC specifically to tide me over while I save for my Yggdrasil since this is at the great price of $399. However, once I order the Yggdrasil this will be on the permanent loaner program (Either mid January or beginning of February). However, the rules for this loaner are going to be a little different (rules below):

    1) Prioritized for people who need a DAC for a meet or trade show.
    2) Need something to tide you over for awhile while saving for a DAC.
    3) First stop will be for someone to do measurements so if you would like to we will put you at the top of the list (unless someone really needs this for a meet or trade show then after that we will get it to you).
    4) Of course if no one needs this and you would like to give it a listen be more than happy to send it out.

Please be descriptive in your request.

Ok, if it shows up here I'll measure it and give it a listen. Maybe look for someone else in the PNW that is interested to combine regional visits.

Are there any comparisons by site members of the Emotiva DACs to other DACs ?

Jimmy compared the DC-1 to the Gungnir DS a while back.

This DC-1 has quenched my thirst for upgrades. It works as a preamp and even has a remote which could be used in self defense if needed.
It has 2 very headphone outs with very powerful amps and just the right number of inputs and outputs. It even has a bass boost! The sound has nothing extraordinary of note but it does exactly what its meant to do, act as the fulcrum to my listening sessions. I look forward to the measurements esp from bob who is thorough to say the least.
FWIW, Emotiva also post their own measurements on their website.

I had the dc-1 for about 4 months, very good sounding dac. Bad USB implementation I found though, very noisey

Headphone amp section was pretty good. maybe on like a magni or o2 level, noisey though so no iems,

Hmm, If it's that bad may have to get a regen to include in the loaner program with this DAC.

There were some reported issues with the USB drivers for the cmedia chip. I remember using Schiit drivers for a little while because they use the same chip. Eventually, Emotiva did update their drivers but still required some tweaking within the OS.
I must say, i don't remember hearing any noise with my IEMs, the XBA-H1 and Ety HF3.

I would definitely be interested in a Regen Loaner by itself.

my computer is very noisey source though, I have two graphics cards and an overclocked 8 core cpu, and a 1000w smps so less then ideal. I find it's a good way to test usb implementations though.

The DC-1 is an exceptional value at $400.

I've had mine for more than year? Same purpose as @velvetx, as a stop gap between "hi-end" dacs..

In order to replace mine, I would need to purchase a preamp in addition to a new dac. If I went with the Yggdrasil I could wind up spending $4,000 just to replace the functionality of the DC-1.

Having a hard time convincing myself that the aural gains would be equal to the costs.
