Energren Brewing Company is located in Moorpark situated in an industrial building complex. German style beers. I'd frequent this place more often, but it is a little bit of a drive for me at around 20 minutes. Their Valkyrie, a dark amber old style (german equivalent of English ale), is one of my favorites (top five). I come here for the Valkyrie. And almost everything else.

    Upside: Only one IPA.

    Left to right:

    Schonertag - hefeweizen
Dunkelweizen - between a dunkel and hefeweizen
Ice Cream Truck - nitro milk stout w/ chocolate and coconut
Valkyrie (full pour on the right)

Panda Express bowl in the bottom right. Recommend Beijing Beef for proper pairing with most of these beers. Brocolli Beef or Mushroom Chicken suits the lighter Schonertag better.

Yep. I went there for the first time back in June or July. A seriously great small Brewery. Plus, the food trucks are killer.

Concur on Enegren. Valkyrie is killer.

A couple of other non-IPA-focused places for you to try, if you're in the area:

Ojai Valley Brewing in Ojai. Seriously good nano-brewery. They usually have one IPA that's far, far off the beaten path. They experiment quite a bit, but unlike some other experimental breweries, they have far more hits than misses (I'm looking at you, BrewLab, and your toasted coriander and goat ass (or whatever the hell bizarro combinations you use). However, BrewLab (in Carpinteria) does very well at sours.

MacLeod Brewing in Van Nuys. Bonus points for being in an industrial-dystopian neighborhood, more bonus points for being across the street from the location of the auto parts warehouse I used to work in when I was 17. If you're into British pub-style beers (hand-pulled), run, don't walk. Though they are branching out a bit now. I need to revisit.

Pocock Brewing in Valencia. They have a couple of IPAs, but their heart is really in their dark beers. Bonus points for being able to walk to it through the parking lot at Schiit. Get the British Volunteer or It's My Island. Go from there.
