This little amp looks pretty awesome in design and build. I was actually tempted to buy this for my HD650's but there doesn't seem to be any reliable info.Anyone have any information about it? For the price is seems pretty promising.

Why not ask your question here? Or here, even.

Reopening thread. We've gone too Nazi in forcing people to always ask questons in the advice thread.

There's a good argument for this amp having its own thread - unless one already exists. The Elise was well received, and by extension this amp might be of interest to many. I am interested myself if anyone here has heard it and could give some comparative impressions, even if limited.

Also, there's a bit of double standard here as I recently started a new thread with a similar post on some portable DAC/amp which seemed interesting. In that case, I got some good replies from a few people who heard it.

We need to relax a bit and think harder on the acceptability of posts instead of too quickly rushing to judgement.

That being said, I will lock product threads that go nowhere after a few days. The kind with pointless speculation, parroting of manufacturer marketing material, etc.

I was pondering about that double standard too until Marvey talked about it.. Absolutely happy with the way you managed the community, You have my respect Marvey!

Back to topic, I like the look of this amp more than its bigger brother. Clean and Classy, nice fonts / markings. By the look once can definitely tell this is not another Chi-fi amp.

Thanks for reopening. I completely understand about keeping the noise level down stopping bloated threads this def deserves a thread.

I also find this more attractive than the Elise, if it sounds even as good as the Vali 2 in technicalities with a bit more of a tubey sound for those who enjoy a bit of a lush colouration without being mushed to shit! it will be a good little amp. I'm tempted to just order one but I don't take many risk these days!

I hope someone gets one so we can have some impressions. My worry is that most would pay the extra for the Elise, or attempt to get their hands on a NBM.

Does that "headfonics" site ever dislike anything? It's more lego movie theme than Head-Fi

Everything does seem overly positive on that site. Someone is going to have to take one for the team haha

For what it's worth, the usual suspects liked the more expensive Elise, subject to subjective flavour comments. I know the cheaper one is OTL, so that does change things a bit, but if you like OTL, I guess you won't go far wrong. There is a not-review of the Elise with some good discussion, and the budget tube amp guide was interesting.

I already took one for the team, and picked up an HP8 Mk.2 (which I enjoy massively). I don't think yet another amp on my desk would be a good plan right now :)

Ah yes the HP8 MKII is another amp that I was going to grab. I nearly bought it a few times but need a longer session with it. I did read your write up and enjoyed it.It seems like the Icon HP8 and the Elise are good choices in that £600 + price range. I might end up grabbing the HP8 next year.

Yeah, it's really nice. So much so that I hardly ever listen to my Night Blues Mini (which is much loved in these parts). Still a bit on the fence about selling the NBM though, as it has such cold war chic, and does sound surprisingly good- and they have different sounds.

It's a bit of a first world problem, though. Many hours of happy listening have resulted from the situation.

Where did you get your NBM? Seems a bit of a pain to import. Do you find the HP8 an upgrade over the NBM or more of a side grade?

Yes, I had it imported- takes a while. I find the HP8 an upgrade, but frankly, had a nicely-working Jensen cap equipped used one not fallen into my lap, I'd have been perfectly OK with the NBM. It's surprisingly resolving and drives a pair of 650s without breaking a sweat. It would be easy to learn to live with either, though.

I've been tempted to grab one of them with the MP-301 MK3 and the cheaper Feliks amp but decisions never come easy! If you ever list any for sale let me know as I'm also in London :)
