This been bugging me for a little while, but who's in the Sunhell state? I know normally there's a bunch of Central FL/South FL folks. Since this state is big as American's wang, it's hard to see folks due to the distance. I'm open to trying to set something up in Jax, but most members wouldn't attempt to drive all the way up here. Maybe it's a good idea to float the idea around and see who might bite?
I am curious about that myself. I live on the West Coast and Jax is a 6 hour drive for me. I would be up for that if enough members would attend to make a meetup worthwhile. Perhaps a meeting in Orlando might be a compromise?
I spend November to March In South Sarasota, on the coastal waters across from Siesta Key. I may travel once or twice to Toronto, but mostly I am heree. 4.5 hour drive to Jax. Not a problem
I was thinking of that too. Personally I hate long ass drives, but I can deal with it. I won't be able to host a meet in Orlando since I don't live there, but I'm open to traveling down to Orlando to meetup. Maybe others as well.... You aren't far, just get out of the boonies. For me I would feel bad if you spend that time coming up to see me for one day in a lame apartment.
Anyone closer to the Miami area? The Tampa audio show might have been a good occasion to motivate a meet in central Florida but it was this weekend.
It also has very little offerings for headphone folks. My friend who owns House of Stereo in Jax brought his speaker setup with an Utopia pair that wasn't broken in yet. I didn't want to waste my time going down there.
Yeah I checked out the vendors going and came to the same conclusion, although checking high end speakers seemed pretty interesting too.
My friends from my local audio club all went. I declined as you know, and they were laughing at my decision.
I've bought a few things from house of stereo before they moved closer to JTB. I bought my Acurus amp and preamp plus some Nordost interconnects. Small world.
I live five minutes away from HoS. Bill is no longer the owner of the store, he sold it to a younger guy who also runs Wolf Audio System,.but he is still part of the shop working part time. They are working on a headphone wall, which they are listening to my input. It's a wip, but it'll be a thing.
Mini meet? I need someone else to try my heavily modded he 6 to tell me if I'm on to something or just crazy. I wish I could even find any sort of community like that in Miami, the only shop I've found that sells a decent headphone selection won't even answer my calls when I'm trying to see if they have them on display or not. Probably good for them since I never buy audio gear new though
I would be down, I have an audio engineer acquaintance who might be interested as well. He has gone to some meets out of state, but I'm not sure what peaks his interest there, maybe I just haven't seen him geek out yet haha. What/Where is that shop you're referring too? I am kicking myself for not visiting any while I was in Manhattan last year.
