Selling an AKG K1000 headphone, serial # 04398, black box. Four-pin XLR connector, original as far as I can tell. These were introduced on 1989 so this unit is about 30 years old.

Given that: Metal is clean and bright, no dings, dents, or rust anywhere. Paint is good. All parts functioning including lock switches, elastic, cable, etc. Rubber/plastic coating on the cable is cracking in places, see images. Although it functions fine these could use re-cabling or minimally some heat-shrink tubing in places. The temple pad leather is showing age but no rips & the padding is still enough to make these comfortable. Sound is great, no buzzes, crackling, or balance issues. Love these with the Stellaris.

Original black wood box has some scuffs, headphone foam is in good condition, replacement foam in top of box.

In short, these are great sounding headphones that will work for you out of the box (high-powered amp suggested) but should be upgraded with new cabling soon.

FRIENDS ONLY: $950 which includes shipping within CONUS, buyer to pay any PP fees on top of that amount.

EDIT: Further listening has revealed a buzz in the right ear on low bass tones. This is apparently a known issue with this early, 'bass-heavy' version of the phone with a possible fix available. While I'm affecting repairs (and probably swapping out the cable) I'm pulling the listing from other boards. I'll leave this ad up here if any members want to make me an offer on the headphones as-is EDIT ENDS

I updated the add to indicate a buzz I found in the right channel.
