Really wanted to keep the PR-102 preamp as it is the most well thought out preamp functionality wise I have ever owned, and it is ultra-transparent/neutral (blind I could not tell vs passive)...but alas, I need funds for another project and the Freya+ has won me over. I will miss the absolutely killer remote, motorized volume/balance pots, mute/hush functions, tone control, tape monitor outs, and tons of inputs. If you need a transparent control center for your system and you are all single-ended, this is it. I love that it even has some power outlets on the back including one always on for your DAC or other gear you want to leave on. Want something with more character? You can easily opamp roll with this preamp! Did I mention more module slots for future products from Dan/Akitika? Just so much to love about this preamp, more info here: https://www.akitika.com/PR102.html

The PR-102 was built by Akitika and has all modules/add-ons (phono stage and headphone amp), gold RCA jacks, and was upgraded to a 1/4" headphone port. The only change I made was snipping a couple of resistors as outlined in the manual to trim 6db of gain. I found it had a ton of gain, so I can't imagine wanting to add those back, but an easy change if you know how to solder and want that extra gain back.

Phono stage is basically all you could ever want/need if you are running MM cartridges. Super adjustable for gain/loading, and very transparent sounding. You can read a bit about what I thought of it here: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.o...n-labs-phono-preamps.10320/page-2#post-337725

Headphone amp is a nice bonus and I thought actually sounded somewhere between good to great. Not a world-beater, but a reliable inoffensive solid-state built-in that is handy to have so you are not always having to run your tube amps! I paid extra to have the case drilled out and a 1/4" jack rather than the 1/8" standard installed.

I paid $1024 for this after paying the cost to have everything built/custom upgrades. This is a very extensive build compared to the GT-102 power amp so I felt it was smart to leave this build to the pros. I am looking for $700 for friends/contributors, $750 for everyone else. I also have the GT-102 up for sale at $350, if you want the whole Akitika stack you can bundle for $1000 ($1600 retail).
