FS: Amorphous Transformers for 3F

    I've tried these, and I've discovered that I'm a bit of a warmpoo fan, so I almost always prefer the nickel ones. Given that the Auteur is already a warmer headphone, I don't think I'd enjoy these with Focals or Senns, so I'm letting them go. Asking $215 shipped for friends and known contributors. Randos and new contributors must provide proof of a $35 dollar donation to SBAF with purchase in addition to the $215.

    One quick thing worth noting: the transformers have four holes on the corners where you screw them in. One of them came to me with one of these holes missing an edge, meaning you can't screw it in. This isn't a problem at all as the other three holes are more than enough for it to stay sturdy with screws. I'll send a picture if you'd like.

    As Doug has stated, there are relatively small differences between the sound of the transformers -- not nothing, but certainly not enough to change a headphone's signature significantly. (I have both.)

    But the Amorphous transformers work very well w/ my Heddphones. I also prefer them with my Ether 2 and HD-6xx. Preferred Nickel w/ my (sold) HEKv2, but about even w/ my (current) HEKse.

    I do wish it wasn't such a PITA to swap them :)

    If your #1 wish for your Utopia is a more open/airy/spacious headstage (as opposed to wishing for more bass), then you might prefer these to the Nickel transformers. I don't find that the Amorphous transformers exacerbate Utopia's sharp/demanding character.

    Also, I personally am pretty ambivalent between the two when driving my Auteur (my ears/your ears). More bass w/ Nickel, but lovely headstage effects with Amorphous. Slightly less difference between these vs tube-rolling in my LP.

    Giving this one bump. The ECP DSHA-3F will likely be going for sale soon (And I'll list with both transformers - Pendant just is more to my tastes and I can't justify having two 2k+ amps at this point in my life), so if you would like to buy these transformers, this will likely be your last chance!
