My Bel Canto Evo 4 Gen II is a 4 channel amp originally bought after owning an EVO 2. These amps to my ear did sound great and were nothing like the bright sounding Nuforce or some of the others selling at the time. Bridging the two stereo boards gave me great power iirc 400w per to power my somewhat hungry monitors. I still regret selling them.

It has served me well for 12 + years, but it has been ailing for years. One of the two stereo boards developed pop an noise gremlins in 2017 and I reverted to the remaining 120w per stereo board to power my speakers. Lately the amp is clicking its protection circuit brains out randomly and even refuses to send the music thru for upwards of 12 min on power on.

For the knowledgeable and able this might be a great repair project. List price was $3995. Ludicrous in my mind today. Selling SALVAGE at $200 local pickup. Will ship as I have the original box and packing, but you know how expensive a 58 pound amp is to ship. eg. Ground to Chicago is about $99.

pics on request, message me or post in thread.

I have seen a few folk use the guts of the amp and add in hypex modules for power instead of trying to find the rare tripath chips to repair this. Iirc, a cheapo 5 channel amp that often sells for under $100 actually uses the same tripath chip and has been a source for these Bel Canto amps. I can't seem to find the model but can go looking if someone is interested.

Sad to see such a fine looking amp relegated to parts.

    GLWS

EDIT: couldn't help myself. The unit that has 5 of these chips is the Motorola DCP-501

There is one on ebay for a whopping $45, might offer an option to fix the amp for reasonable money.
