FS: HD 650 (modded)

For sale is a modded HD650.
I'm the first owner and it has been used for one and a half year. Everything is there in its original packaging.

The mods applied are the foam/spider cage removal, dampening, and coin hole mod.

Dampening was applied to the magnet and the surrounding elevated areas only (the same areas in the KISS mod). You can refer to the pics I added, they are visible underneath the grill. The material used for dampening is Damplifier Pro, which has been cited a sonically better material than Dynamat Extreme by several members of this community. I don't openly back up or deny this claim; I only used it because it's more affordable, easier to work with and aesthetically better-looking IMO.

For those of you who prefer not to have the coin mod (yes I'm looking at you, Jotunheim users), I'm also throwing in a free pair of intact, unused HD650 foams bought directly from Sennheiser. You can swap the foam, compare and decide whether to have the coin mod or not. The coin hole was cut to be a near perfect, even circle at the center.

I haven't noticed this until recently, but there is a small dent in one of the headbands. It's only visible if you stretch the headband long enough (which means you have a large head). Otherwise, I never had to stretch the headband that much for my head, so it had never occurred to me that it was there.

The reason I'm selling is because I have another HD650 that I'm planning to try some other experimental mods with. I have no intention of completely parting with HD650 as it remains overall the best headphone I've heard to date.

On a side note, there have been rumors that HD650 is being discontinued by Sennheiser, so you might wanna grab one while they last.

No, I love it. I just have too many HD650's, having recently received an HD6XX as well.
