I am selling my Gungnir...i kept it after i sold my Gungnir Multibit (long story) and i really enjoy it but it's time to find a new home. The NAD M51 overall is a better dac and the preamp w/remote function is simply in another quality level.

I am the 3rd owner and i am selling it for the price i find adequate since my intention is to buy another DAC which will cost more than double as much.

There are some marks on it and i, with my terrible phone, tried as much as possible to make them as visible to those interested. The top marks are from the legs of one of my ex-amps raiser.

The front mark was already there when i bought it. Hopefully this is will make someone here as happy as it made me.

Price, with shipping (Sweden based), but without PP fees (that will have to be payed by the buyer but ofc gift is accepted so no fees needed) is 400€. .

    Thanks!

25€ price reduction to keep the 50€ difference from head-fi.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the NAD M51 is natively universal voltage and can accept any voltage worldwide. By writing NAD M51 230V, you are potentially losing customers outside the 230V zone, namely North Americans (whom I believe are the majority of SBAFers).

I will check the manual, and correct accordingly.

    Thanks for heads up

Edit: just needed to look at the back and the title is now corrected.

The NAD M51 is the DAC I've owned the longest. For me finds the perfect balanced between making everything sounding good and having all the details. Good luck with the sale!

Great DAC, highly resolving, good value esp. if you need the pre-amp feature. Unfortunately I have too many DACs already.

You guys make me quite interested in this device.

The hum is a pity though. Anyone knows why this DAC would hum and what could be done to reduce it, maybe? I've had amps hum but never DACs.

Don't know. Didn't do it in Spain but did it in Portugal and now in Sweden. Maybe someone can shed a light into it.

Oh no, i only hear it when i arrive home and it's dead silent. It's 50 cm from me and with headphones, even without music, I don't hear it.

Wait wait, you're saying the humming comes from the amp? It's not in the signal path? Sorry was totally misunderstanding :) :)

No, it comes definitely from the DAC. Just that if I have headphones on or if it's not dead silent in the house, i just don't hear the hum.

I had another DAC that also had a hum but it was much louder and intrusive. So much that I sold it after a few days.

I think it's because it uses a SMPS internally and the coil whine is somewhat audible. But again you have to be like inches from the device in a quiet room to notice it. It is a great DAC if you need remote input switching or volume control capabilities.

Why it lasted so long in my hands. If I would still need the remote I wouldn't sell it. The DAC is very good and as a DAC+pre is excellent.

I’ll confirm that the volume control on the M51 is excellent. It can’t operate as an analog pre-amp, if I recall. Only digital inputs.
